Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dictates state policy according to his radical interpretation of theology. All aspects of his regime are governed by his conviction that god selected him to hasten the return of a messiah who will install a global Islamic kingdom after an apocalypse, in which all non-believers are eradicated. This belief fuels Ahmadinejad's justification for oppressing his own people, threatening the west, supporting various international armed groups and pursuing nuclear technology.
Ahmadinejad claims he has a "private personal channel" to the Mahdi who followers of the Shiite "Twelver" sect believe is the Islamic messiah. The Mahdi, also known as the missing Imam or Twelfth Imam, is said to have disappeared down a well when he was five years old during the 9th century. The faithful believe he will return to bring world peace by installing Islamic law through a global caliphate after an apocalypse in which the "infidel" is killed.
When Ahmadinejad was mayor of Tehran he repaired a main road in the capital so that the Mahdi could have a smoother journey upon his return. When Ahmadinejad took power in 2005, he ordered parliamentarians to sign an oath pledging allegiance to the Mahdi. Ahmadinejad's government policy, both domestic and foreign, is rooted in hastening the Mahdi's return.
In November 2005 Ahmadinejad said in a speech: "Our revolution's main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi...Today, we should define our economic, cultural and political policies based on the policy of Imam Mahdi's return." After returning to Iran after he spoke at the U.N., Ahmadinejad told a prominent cleric that "When I began to speak in God's name, I was bathed in light." Ahmadinejad said he could "feel the light" and that during his 27-minute speech, world leaders were frozen in their seats. "Not one of them so much as batted an eyelash. An unseen hand bound them to their chairs and opened their eyes and their ears, so that they could take in the message of the Islamic Republic."
Soon after he became president, Ahmadinejad gave an interview in which he praised suicide bombers and that Islam will conquer the world: "Is there an art that is more beautiful, more divine, and more eternal than the art of martyrdom. . . Have no doubt, Allah willing, Islam will conquer what? It will conquer all the mountain tops of the world."
Iran's nuclear power plant is located 120 kilometers from the border with Kuwait and in case of a leak it would devastate Kuwait's water supply.
Iran's ultimate goal seems to be the ability to strike anywhere, including the United States. The Center for Strategic and International Studies took a look at Iranian research plans. They noted that: ...Iran is attempting to create a Shahab-5 and a Shahab-6, with a 3,000-5,000 kilometer range. These missiles would be three-stage rockets. If completed, the Shahab-5 and the Shahab-6 would take Iran into the realm of limited range ICBM's, and enable Iran to target the US eastern seaboard.
While even the "smallest" nuclear attack anywhere is an unimaginable horror, because of its size and population, it would be almost impossible for the country of Israel to survive a single nuclear attack.
Radioactive fall-out would spread rapidly not only to all parts of Israel, but across the Middle East and even to Europe with certain wind conditions. The world's economies would be devastated and millions of people would become instant refugees.

Many of my thoughts have changed over the years and the way I would have responded would have been quite different today.
This recording was done 5 years ago.
* Morality has a biological foundation and I have argued this in many later lectures.
* I would have used the "Why Doesn't God Heal Amputees?" question during the eyeball regrowth.
* On the question of whether people are wasting their time in church, today I would have answered, "If they are genuinely getting something positive out of the experience and their faith isn't turning them into bigots or they aren't harming anyone, then sure.. believe what you wish.
* On the question of why I'm called America's Most Dangerous Black Atheist, I would now say, "It's just a joke. However.. many people that have gotten close to me change some aspect of their theology after a while."
* On the question of animal sex. I would now argue that for one I'm not attracted to non-human animals, and also most animals cannot consent to such an act in the same way we can. Which is another layer on why it's considered wrong in most societies. We don't need a God to tell us this.
* On the charge that Yahweh's bible helped man become moral. What were people doing before the Ten Commandments and Hebraic Laws? Assuredly, there were laws against animal cruelty, animal sex, rape etc.. long before the Bible was even a concept.

Why are out the front (OTF) autos so expensive? Nutnfancy says their inner workings though more complex simply don't justify the price of most models...there's just no way. They are just price gouging us for the perceived coolness and exclusivity. Just like the Microtech OTFs, the cool but hyper-expensive Benchmade Infidel will set you back about four plus cool ones in 2008. For that indeed you get a well-engineered double-action OTF knife: two compression springs work in tandem to provide extreme reliability (patented), SS liners increase design strength, locking mechanism has 4 heat-treated latches to ensure strength, multiple locking latches increase strength, has Presidio-style directional handle milling, a high traction actuation button, nice deep and strong clip, sharp, the laser-cut 4" D2 dagger blade is ground well, and a blowout hole is provided for cleaning purposes (helps de-lint the mechanism). All this engineering results in a fast, reliable OTF auto that I believe would be on par with the Halo from Microtech. But it remains impractical: it's a heavier 5.0 oz, it's an inherently a weaker design than a heavy duty tactical folder (which is almost as fast too), the thick handle is necessary to encase mechanism, it's complexity can lead to failure no matter how quality made it is, it has a very limited purpose and short dagger blade, and it's a very low value knife. So many better tactical knife options exist for hundreds less than the Infidel. So on terms of practicality the Infidel loses out big time. The current Blackhawk catalog puts it well in regards to their Triton OTF: "[they are] primarily intended as an expression of knife engineering and craftsmanship as well as a light-duty tool and backup weapon." I agree. But as is often the case with high end items, it's another aspect to this knife: intrinsic attraction. In terms of collectibility and specialness the Infidel really is a winner. It is an impressive and cool blade that is seldom seen and will provide you with years of enjoyment, no doubt. Some just want and appreciate such a high quality OTF auto and it what turns them on. I can never fault that intangible attraction to such a blade and I understand it... I can just get it from blades costing a lot less.
