Oncor, a regulated electric delivery business in Texas, works closely with Kathy Rogers, Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, retrieves eggs from Great Blue Heron nests in West Texas power lines. Rogers hatches eggs, raises chicks, and trains the young birds to return to the wild. Over the last two years, more than 63 Great Blue Herons, a federally protected species, have been rescued and returned to the wild as a result of Oncor's environmental partnership with Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Oncor removes only the nests that are causing power outages. In this clip, the 345,000 volt line moves power from West Texas to the rest of Oncor's service area
