Crispin Glover "Clowny Clown Clown" - 239 sec
From Atomic TV Volume 6: "Scott's Obsessions": I've had a quite unhealthy obsession with Crispin Hellion Glover ever since I saw him in River's Edge. Rumor has it that after the movie wrapped they had to go back and film an extra scene, the scene where Layne falls asleep at the traffic light, in order for movie-goers to make sense of his odd character. The clincher was when I saw Glover's "I'm strong... I can kick..." David Letterman appearance and from that point on I was a fan for life. When I opened my store, Atomic Books, I contacted Volcanic Eruptions so that Crispin's book "Rat Catching" would be one of the first books I stocked on my shelves. A few years later I was able to see a workprint of his film "What Is It?" in D.C. along with his "Big Slide Show" presentation. Utterly amazing. And as the years have passed Glover has continued to take on quirky roles without cheezing out, even in "Charlie's Angels" he played a weirdo. Perhaps his most mainstream role was in "Where the Heart Is?" but Uma Thurman was in that movie, and she was nekkid, so I gotta still cut him some slack. Crispin Glover has remained my hero for almost 20 years, and when I met him he wasn't a dick, which gives him even more bonus points. A true gentleman. More at www.atomicteevee.com

1987 - Betty Glover Library Workout Tape Ad - 280 sec
This was a project I did in college at ASU for class. Yes, I also worked at the library, and Betty Glover (an incredibly sweet lady) was my boss. This was way before non-linear editing. It's a bit dated, but still holds up pretty well, I think.

Danny Glover Interview - Honey Dripper "bootlegging" MNC - 496 sec
Iconoclastic filmmaker John Sayles, in his 16th feature film, continues his extraordinary examination of the complexities and shifting identities of American sub-cultures in the new film "Honeydripper." With his usual understated intelligence, Sayles uses the rhythms of the citizens of Harmony, Alabama to immerse the audience into the world of the Jim Crow south. It's a fable about the birth of rock n' roll-a quintessentially American subject, but with a fidelity to time and temperament that is unusual in an American director. It's 1950 and it's a make or break weekend for Tyrone Purvis (Danny Glover), the proprietor of the Honeydripper Lounge. Deep in debt, Tyrone is desperate to bring back the crowds that used to come to his place. He decides to lay off his long-time blues singer Bertha Mae, and announces that he's hired a famous guitar player, Guitar Sam, for a one night only gig in order to save the club. Into town drifts Sonny Blake, a young man with nothing to his name but big dreams and the guitar case in his hand. Rejected by Tyrone when he applies to play at the Honeydripper, he is intercepted by the corrupt local Sheriff, arrested for vagrancy and rented out as an unpaid cotton picker to the highest bidder. But when Tyrone's ace-in-the-hole fails to materialize at the train station, his desperation leads him back to Sonny and the strange, wire-dangling object in his guitar case. The Honeydripper lounge is all set to play its part in rock n' roll history. Actor, producer and humanitarian Danny Glover has been a commanding presence on screen, stage and television for more than 25 years. As an actor, his film credits range from the blockbuster Lethal Weapon franchise to smaller independent features, some of which Glover also produced. Most recently, he completed filming the critically acclaimed feature Dreamgirls directed by Bill Condon and Poor Boy's Game for director Clement Virgo, Shooter for director Antoine Fuqua and the highly anticipated Be Kind, Rewind for director Michel Gondry and Honeydripper for director John Sayles. At the same time, Glover has also gained respect for his wide-reaching community activism and philanthropic efforts, with a particular emphasis on advocacy for economic justice, and access to health care and education programs in the United States and Africa. For these efforts, Glover received a 2006 DGA Honor. Internationally, Glover has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program from 1998-2004, focusing on issues of poverty, disease, and economic development in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and currently serves as UNICEF Ambassador. In 2004, Glover co-founded Louverture Films dedicated to the development and production of films of historical relevance, social purpose, commercial value and artistic integrity. The New York based company has a slate of progressive features and documentaries including the recently released Bamako, which premiered to superb reviews at the Cannes International Film Festival. A native of San Francisco, Glover trained at the Black Actors' Workshop of the American Conservatory Theater. It was his Broadway debut in Fugard's Master Harold...and the Boys, which brought him to national recognition and led director Robert Benton to cast Glover in his first leading role in 1984's Oscar®-nominated Best Picture Places in the Heart. The following year, Glover starred in two more Best Picture nominees: Peter Weir's Witness and Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple. In 1987, Glover partnered with Mel Gibson in the first Lethal Weapon film and went on to star in three hugely successful Lethal Weapon sequels. Glover has also invested his talents in more personal projects, including the award-winning To Sleep With Anger, which he executive produced and for which he won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor; Bopha!; Manderlay; Missing in America; and the film version of Athol Fugard's play Boesman and Lena. On the small screen, Glover won an Image Award and a Cable ACE Award and earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in the title role of the HBO movie Mandela. He has also received Emmy nominations for his work in the acclaimed miniseries Lonesome Dove and the telefilm Freedom Song. As a director, he earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Showtime's Just a Dream.
