A bot getting 100% (FC) on Through the Fire and Flames with a final score of 983,802.
So there the FC everyone's been looking for. The star power path may not have been perfect but it was at the very least decent. As you can see the bot is also able to use the whammy bar to help maximize it's score.
For those that don't know, a bot (short for robot) is a device/program that will automatically play Guitar Hero based on how it was programmed. This bot was made by modifying an Xbox 360 controller and wiring it up to a microcontroller.
FAQs:
Q: How long did it take to build this and get it working?
A: I had something functional (see last video) in around 1 week. To get this fully working, it took around 2 months of working on it on and off.
Q: What system is this for?
A: This is for the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 3 (although untested, it will most likely work for GH1 and GH2 also)
Q: Do you play on Xbox Live?
A: I have an Xbox Live account however I have NO plans on taking this bot on there just for the sake of cheating the high scores.
Q: Why would you build this to cheat?
A: The challenge of this project was making a Guitar Hero playing robot, which I assure you was anything but easy. The point was not to cheat, but to build a functioning robot, at which I feel I have succeeded.

A: I built it.

A lot of people have requested I make a video of the bot doing The Devil Went Down To Georgia. I would be willing to make this video, however, I would need a copy of the note chart for this song. Because it is DLC, I can't get a copy off the DVD of the game. If anyone has access to their Xbox 360 Hard Drive and is willing to send me the file I need, please private message me. The file I need is most likely called "tdwdtg.mid.qb.xen" or "tdwdtg_song.pak.xen" or something similar.

For some reason at about 3 mins the audio starts getting out of sync. I use Pinnacle Studio 9.3. The captured MPG was in sync, just the rendered mpg is out of sync. So if you know anything that I can do to fix it please let me know.

Yeah it's finally up, it's one of the best Bonus Songs in the game...has a cool Mega Man-esque old school Nintendo sound to it...there's a few tough parts in there though...you'll see them.
Filmed this with my roommate Joey (Yusuf) sitting next to me...he's the one doing all the whooping and hollering...my throat was getting bad at this point.

GO RAPIDS!
The Colorado Rapids and Comcast sponsored a GH tourney on 21 Jun 08. The tourney was based on score, style, and costume for the first two rounds with celebrity judges.
The top two in the first rounds met in the finals, at halftime of the 21 Jun 08 Rapids vs. Houston match. Caleb was the other finalist and was a dead ringer for Slash. And he was an awesome dude.
The finals was a mere 2 mins for each player with Ben playing first. Slash went second and did a freaking great job. The audience selected the winner and I think Ben got the nod because he's a kid (although they didn't show Ben's good stuff in the vid).
All in all, a GREAT JOB by the tourney sponsord and coordinators. Ben won a couple round trip tickets (We'll be heading to the Ocean City shore of NJ).
One last thing.... GOOD JOB AUSTIN!
Also, I believe only one more vid will come from us. The haters are too much.

Yeah I know I suck...
Go watch jameslikecoulter's vids of this song, he's put a lot more work into this and has actually FC'd it.
I don't do any tapping/elbow strumming whatsoever in the Flood, I just use my index and middle fingers for any of the fast tapping...I could definitely see myself FC'ing this at some point, just not now, because I'm not a big fan of playing the song (I think the song itself is okay, just not really for GH).
If you're struggling with the Mosh...trying doing 4321 3211 for your finger pattern, just slide your index finger up for G and keep doing the pattern for that part. Just work on strumming in those certain areas and you'll get it down.
Going on with the rest of the tier soon...Cliffs of Dover should be up in about a week, when I can find some time.

"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" in a hard rock/metal form. Awesome. I apologize about the blurry quality and the shortness of the battle; extending battles is very difficult and risky to do without just plain losing. I wanted to show a video of victory.

Q:What the heck is going on with the flippy crazy notes and stuff!?!
A: This is a new mode in Guitar Hero 3 called Battle Mode. Similar to the original versus mode, but instead of star power, you get power-ups which are used to mess with your opponent's fretboard and the ability to play the song. It is an ADDITIONAL mode in multiplayer. If you still want to play normally, that option is still there. This is just a little new extra thing. It's kinda fun, but a little too luck based I think.
I happen to be on the left, and once I drain all of his health, the song skips and loads into the final part. Had I not done that, I believe the game would have killed me automatically with a death drain thingy.
Q: Can this song be played outside of the career battle?
A: No, maybe, and Yes. On the PS2 version? Not really. On the Wii version? Maybe some day. On the 360 and PS3 version? Absolutely, provided you have your console hooked up to the internet and purchase the song through your respective service.
Q: Who's that robot thing?
A: It's a new exclusive character to the PS2 and Wii versions of GH3 called Metalhead. That is his default costume, I kinda prefer one of his alts, though.
Q:What happens once you beat him?
A: When you beat the game for the first time, after going past the screen that tells your performance and such, you're taken to a loading screen that says "Good Luck" and it informs you that you have unlocked "Through the Fire and Flames" and you play the song with no rock meter as the credits go by. Also, he is now unlocked as a character for purchase in the store. I believe he costs $15,000.
Extra comments: Yeah, it sucks that it's censored, but they need the T rating. You can use the old guitars, I used the original black SG that I got from the first Guitar Hero to play in this very video.
