The price represents a 74 percent premium to Rohm and Haas' closing share price of $44.83 on Wednesday. -------------------------------------General Electric has announced that it wants to spin off its iconic lighting business. The news follows a previous announcement that it planned to sell its appliance business. The combined businesses comprise 50,000 of GE's 300,000 employees, sales of more than $13 billion and a profit of slightly more than $1 billion last year.
