This day there was a demonstration going down from Götaplatsen to the fenced area around the summit. The cops attacked the march to seperate the black block from the others but failed and just pushed them out to the main shopping street "Avenyn", where the police were forced to pull back.

This segment shows United's determination to get back into the tie after the 1-0 defeat in Goteborg. It also provides a new perspective on the Goteborg's goal at Tannadice in this the 2nd leg of the final.
Music -
From the movie "Betty Blue" directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix. The haunting themes produced by Gabriel Yared match the changing fortunes of United in the film. The film was released on 7th November 1986 - just at the beginning of the European campaign. Yared's music continues from Part 1 and Cargo Voyage was added here to support the build up when supports arrived for the game and as a transition from the city into Tannadice Park. "Betty Blue", a French film very much about passion links well with pasion of sport of - that is football. As in life - passion swings one way then another. The passion of football is like that - in the split second, the minute or the hour; fortunes swing one way then the other. The music builds upon "One of Us". "Betty Blue" told the story of Bett and Zork. The first track is Betty Et Zorg and later Zorg Et Betty. One half happy and the second half despair.
This video has been lost in my cupboard for almost 20 years. I came across it again and have decided to share it on You Tube. It is virtually the original edited version that was filmed and completed in 1987. With this year being the 20th anniversary of this final it is appropriate for it to be now available to the world. It has that charm that comes with time, age and distance. European football in 1987 was very different from it is today. It was very much football matching one-team-against-another-team in competition -- very much based a 'one-of-us'; not the 'groups-of-giants' mentality of the Champions League of today. In 1987 -- the final could be played anywhere in Europe and the teams reaching the Final could see their home team win or lose a European trophy -- in their home town. That all had a certain charm.
Question: "Can you name the three cities that have had two teams reaching both the semi-final of the European Cup AND Uefa Cup/Inter Cities Fairs Cup....?"
Answer: Rather than London, Glasgow, Budapest, Dundee, Belgrade, Milan, Bucharest, Madrid etc etc: the three are Milan, Madrid and DUNDEE.
I think this gives a true list of the elite and the city of Dundee is part of a much smaller elite. I took the facts from the European Cup rather than the Champions League as the former was a competition for the Champions of the domestic leagues -- the Champions League is no such competition. Likewise, the Inter-cities Fairs Cup was a competition based upon one team per city in the competition. The old UEFA Cup - before the league nonsense and the second rate nature of failing teams from the Champions League entered that 'now' devalued competition -- was indeed a quality competition.
Firstly, a champion of a domestic competition entered the European Cup as a Champion and therefore a team that reaches the semi-final are with other champions -- Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid, Inter Milan and AC Milan clearly recognised throughout Europe as true Champions. Dundee and Dundee United were also quality Champions. They both deserved to be part of that elite.
Secondly, in the 'good-old-days' teams that would have been runner's up to the team in the European Cup would play in the Uefa Cup/Inter Cities Fairs Cup and be most likely a quality side in some regard. They would be a consistent team or an up-and-coming team and just short of Champion material. Therefore teams reaching the semi-final of this European competition would be facing teams of 'equal' or similar quality to themselves. This elite includes the cities of Milan, Madrid and DUNDEE.
So, my question - "Can you name the three cities that have had two teams reaching both the semi-final of the European Cup AND Uefa Cup/Inter Cities Fairs Cup....?", requires cities and teams with two distinct qualities -- to be a Champion of a domestic league and the ability when not champions to complete at the next highest level in Europe and reach the semi-finals of EACH competition. Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Dundee and Dundee United have done just that - by 1987!
