"Silent Lucidity" is a single by the progressive rock band Queensrÿche. It was released as the A-side of the band's fifth single from the 1990 album Empire. The song peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song was composed by lead guitarist Chris DeGarmo. Because of the lyrical content, and the title of the song, it is assumed to be based on the subject of lucid dreaming. Toward the end of the song, a whispered voice even explains a method for this: "Visualize your dream. Record it in the present tense. Put it into a permanent form. If you persist in your efforts, you can achieve dream control."
This being one of our favorite songs, we decided to do a cover... adding in a bit of Exabyssus charm. I have sequenced this song with scenes from Lord Of The Rings... kinda fits the mood... don't you think ?!?

"Flight of Icarus" is a song by Iron Maiden. It's the band's 8th single and the 1st from the Piece of Mind album. The song is loosely based on the ancient Greek myth of Icarus who was imprisoned with his father Daedalus in the Labyrinth on Crete. So the pair fabricated wings for themselves from feathers and wax. Unfortunately Icarus, not heeding the advice of his father, flew too close to the sun, melting the wax that held the feathers together and thus fell to his death in the sea. Vocalist Bruce Dickinson admits that he had modified the original tale to make it an allegory of teenage rebellion against adult authority (which caused the death of Icarus in this case). I can relate to that... so, here is me playing Bass to my version of the song.

"Wasted Years" was the fourteenth single released by Iron Maiden and the first from their Somewhere in Time album. Released in 1986, it was the first single to be written by guitarist Adrian Smith alone. It reached number 18 in the UK charts.
Adrian was going through hard times, trying to cope with Touring with the band and never getting time with his wife and kids... Maybe he was inspired by Ulysses (the greek king that was always out at sea, seeking new adventures, leaving his kingdom for many years... and almost lost his wife in that time).
I live away from home too... and it's tough. Maybe someday, I'll go back home and reflect on these 'Wasted Years' with a smile.

The Trooper is a song written by Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris. It is Iron Maiden's ninth single, and the second from their 1983 album Piece of Mind. The single was released on June 20, 1983. The song is about the Battle of Balaclava in 1854 during the Crimean War, and is based upon Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem "The Charge of the Light Brigade", taking the viewpoint of one of the slain troopers. It is known for the galloping triplet sound of its bass and electric guitars, as well as its catchy and memorable riff, and is a crowd favourite at all my concerts. It's fun to play this song... quite easy actually. Very good as a warm up before a gig.

"Can I Play with Madness" was the 16th single released by Iron Maiden, in 1988. "Can I Play With Madness" is the first single from the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son album. The single hit number 3 in the UK charts. The song is about a young man who wants to learn the future from an old prophet with a crystal ball. The young man thinks he is going mad and requests the old prophet to help him cope with his visions/nightmares. The prophet's advice is ignored by the young man and they each become angry with the other. An alternate meaning of the song is as follows: the young man seeks answers to the supernatural and goes to the prophet. The prophet looks at his crystal ball, but the young man sees nothing there ("... there's no vision there at all!"). The prophet looks at the young man and laughs, because the young man is "too blind to see" the vision. But more importantly, he's too blind to see what's REALLY going on... he's being cheated... there really is no vision there. The song was originally a ballad named "By the wings of eagle" which Iron Maiden improved.
This song, being my favourite, is my tribute to the Gods - Iron Maiden.
