Já existiam desde 1976 sob a designação de "Pesquisa" (1), dos quais também fez parte Alexandre Soares.
Os Taxi surgiram em 1979, numa formação que incluía João Grande (voz), Henrique Oliveira (guitarra), Rodrigo Freitas (bateria) e Rui Taborda (baixo).
Cantavam temas originais em inglês mas são convidados pela Polygram a gravar um álbum, com a condição de passarem a cantar em português.
Aceite o desafio estoiraram com o tema "Chiclete". O álbum "Taxi" é gravado numa semana, com produção de António Pinho. A primeira actuação em Lisboa ocorreu em Maio de 1981 na primeira parte do concerto dos britânicos Clash.
O álbum "Taxi" tornou-se o "primeiro disco de ouro do rock português", vendendo mais de 35.000 discos. O disco incluía temas como "Taxi", "Chiclete", "TV-WC" e "Lei da Selva", entre outros.
Em 1982 editaram o álbum "Cairo", cuja capa era uma lata em formato circular. O disco atingiu o galardão de prata (mais de 15.000 unidades vendidas) três dias após o seu lançamento .
Um ano depois é editado "Salutz", álbum que incluía o tema "Sing Sing Club" também lançado em formato Máxi-Single.
Em 1985 é editado o single "Sozinho/In The Thinkling Of An Eye" que foi gravado em Hamburgo, na Alemanha.
O grupo despediu-se das edições discográficas em 1987 com "The Night", um disco integralmente cantado em inglês. Os temas mais conhecidos são "Screamin' Love" e "Never On Sunday" mas o disco teve pouco impacto junto do público.
Reúnem-se em 1998 para participar no Festival Roma Mega Rock.
Em Fevereiro de 1999 foi editada a compilação "O Céu Pode Esperar" que incluía uma versão ao vivo de "O Fio da Navalha" e o inédito "O Céu Pode Esperar"(2).
Uma remix de "Chiclete", feita por Dj Riot dos Cool Train Crew, causa sensações nas pistas de dança.
Voltaram a reunir-se para participar no espectáculo comemorativo dos 25 anos do programa "Febre de Sábado de Manhã" de Júlio Isidro. São um dos nomes mais bem recebidos nesse dia.
Dão concertos na Casa da Música e no Festival de Vilar de Mouros.
(1) Em 1977 gravaram o single "Dude´s Serenade/Fool Dream" em edição de autor.
(2) O tema "O Céu Pode Esperar" foi gravado em Hamburgo, durante as sessões de gravação de "Sozinho" com a vista a ser incluido no lado b do single. Uma versão em inglês foi incluída no álbum "The Night" .

João, Grande de pseudónimo, Carvalho de apelido, trocou definitivamente o afã das músicas pelos afazeres de empregado numa instituição bancária do Porto (Pública/99).
Rui Taborda e Henrique Oliveira são co-proprietários dos estúdios Miragem, produtora de séries como Claxon e Major Alvega, e da HOP!. Rui Taborda escreveu o tema "Detective Privado" da banda sonora da série "Claxon".
Anibal Miranda foi o primeiro manager do grupo. Lançou uma compilação da sua carreira em 2006.
O vocalista dos Johnny Johnny era técnico do estúdio dos Taxi.

After Craig Padilla & Skip Murphy had viewed a few "Mr. Hands on synths" videos on YouTube, they decided to elaborate on that concept. They invited their friend and cameraman, Bart Hawkins, to help create a video showcasing a live performance on their numerous vintage analog and digital synths. Padilla and Murphy had not performed together with most of their synthesizers for a few years, and they were still plugging in their instruments when Hawkins arrived! This video is the end result, and is a lot of fun to view and hear! It's available on their CD release "ANALOG DESTINATION" which is due for release in 2008 on the GROOVE label from the Netherlands!
Due to the track's length of time (28 MINUTES!), the track is divided into four parts.

It demonstrates the use of LFOs triggering sounds on and off, emulating arpeggiators and sequences. It's useful for any synthesizer that lacks real-time phrase/drumbeat triggering, such as the ESQ-1.
I didn't use it since the timing was off. If you play too many notes on an ESQ-1, the LFOs slow down.
But it works well for at least 4 notes.

Here is my montage tribute to what is arguably the greatest tv series of it's genre ever produced, Budgie, starring among other fine actors, Adam Faith and Iain Cuthbertson...whose sole rival was the later hit 'Minder', with George Cole and Co.
The music "I Might Stick a Lambchop Inside ya (Provided You Behave Yourself)" is my own special comedy composition, helped by the guest voices of AF and IC ...and was made from the heart.
What I have put together for YouTube viewers is also a dedication to the once great atmosphere of Piccadilly Circus and Soho, London...which today retain only a modicum of their former wonder.
Yes, sleaze does have a certain something going for it...it's called character, something which the modern, politically correct, sanitized London is missing.
