This is the New Shit es el segundo y último single de The Golden Age of Grotesque, el quinto álbum de estudio de Marilyn Manson, del año 2003. Fue producida por Tim Skold y Marilyn Manson y figura también en la banda sonora de Matrix Reloaded. La versiòn del video tuvo que ser censurada por ser una canción cuyo tìtulo contiene la palabra "shit", por esto el nombre de la canción fue cambiada a "This is The New *Hit". En los Estados Unidos, tuvo menor éxito que su antecesora, mOBSCENE, pero fue mejor recibida en Europa.
El video, dirigido por Manson y The Cronenweths, es el segundo video clip en vivo del grupo luego de Rock is Dead (1998) y fue filmado durante un concierto en Europa, durante la gira The Grotesk Burlesk. Consiste en diversas tomas de la banda preparàndose para salir al escenario, rodeados de modelos, maquillaje y champaña, junto con la posterior presentación en vivo, en donde Manson finaliza su actuación vistiendo la màscara de Mickey Mouse, la que en realidad fue utilizada durante "The Fight Song" en la gira y que así mismo fue utilizada en fotos promocionales de The Golden Age of Grotesque en una colaboración artìstica con Gottfried Helnwein. El video también incluye algunos efectos especiales, como la repetición de ciertas tomas en fast motion, la ampliación por computadora del pùblico, hacièndolos ver como si fuesen cientos de miles de personas y ciertas tomas de Manson en altura, con un vitral de fondo.

One night, James causes a head-on collision with a car carrying Dr. Helen Remington (HOLLY HUNTER), killing her husband and severely injuring her and himself. Subsequent encounters with each other find that she is oddly sexually aroused by the danger of car accidents and potential accidents, and, he soon falls in with a cult of car-crash fetishists and invites his wife to join in with them. The group is led by Vaughan (ELIAS KOTEAS), a former scientist twisted by his own disfigurement in an accident and, as a result, a man obsessed with car crashes as a liberation of sexual energy. Vaughan inducts the Ballards and Dr. Remington into his surreal world of sex in the back seats of cars, re-enactments of famous car crashes such as James Dean and Jayne Mansfield, viewing photos of accident victims, screenings of collision videos as a kind of pornography, and fender benders as mating rituals. These encounters turn soon into a rollercoaster of madness, violence and death, in this highly acclaimed movie that won the Golden Palm in the 1996 Cannes Film Festival.
