This is June Christy's Something Cool recorded in the 1950's. She started out replacing Anita O'Day as a singer in Stan Kenton's orchestra and branched out on her own later on. I have searched for some of her material here on YouTube and didn't find much. That's very dissapointing because I love her voice and I feel that she is severely underated. So anyway, this has inspiried me to try out this video thing and make my own with the materials I have of her music. This is my first one so please be kind...I mostly just want people to hear her music. I hope everyone else that wanders around youtube becomes inspired to make and upload their favorite artists or hobbies because there isn't enough quality music out there to enjoy and we need to remind people of the classics and the good things in life. Anyway, thanks for viewing and let me know if you have any tips for future videos because I'm just a beginner and any help would be appreciated. :O)

Christy Moore wrote the song about the Irishmen who went to Spain to fight against Franco and the fascists during the Spanish Civil War. It has been sung by many singers and groups since.The tune dates back to the Napoleonic Wars according to Christy Moore in his book "One Voice", written in 1983 whilst he was in Spain and inspired by Mick O'Riordan's book "the Connolly Column".

Ann Christy (geboren als Christiane Leenaerts te Antwerpen op 22 september 1945 - 7 augustus 1984) is een Vlaamse (kleinkunst)zangeres. Ze werd bekend met nummers als "Gelukkig Zijn", "De Roos" en "Dag Vreemde Man".
Biografie
Ze startte haar zangcarrière met het orkest The Adams waarvan de drummer, Marc Hoyois, later haar man zou worden. Haar eerste plaatje, Kussen onder regenbogen (een vertaling van "Küsse untern Regenbogen" van Manuela), werd geen succes. Dat kwam er pas met haar manager Robert Bylois. Ze zong Franstalige liedjes en ging op tournee door België en Frankrijk met Adamo.
In 1968 won ze de zangwedstrijd Knokke Cup samen met Jacques Raymond, Lily Castel, Nicole Josy en Hugo Dellas o.l.v. Anton Peters. Niet enkel haar stem, maar ook de kleding was opvallend: ze liet zich altijd kleden door de hippieontwerpster An Salens.
In 1970 en 1971 (met 'Dag vreemde man) deed ze vergeefs mee aan de preselecties van het Eurovisiesongfestival. Pas in 1975 mocht ze deelnemen aan het festival, dat gehouden werd in het Zweedse Stockholm. Ze zong het liedje Gelukkig zijn voor de helft in het Nederlands en voor het helft in het Engels. Maar haar duizend dromen omtrent een internationale carrière werden niet waar. Ze eindigde als 15e uit 19 deelnemers. Ann ging ontgoocheld terug naar huis.
In 1977 stond ze 152 keer op de planken in het toenmalig Mechels Miniatuur Theater (nu 't Arsenaal) met de musical Midzomernachtsdroom, een muzikale bewerking van Shakespeares A Midsummer Night's Dream.
In 1978 zong ze twee nummers van Bob Dylan: If I don't be there by morning en Walk out in the rain. Deze worden onterecht als "geschreven voor Ann Christy" bestempeld; Dylan had ze eerst al opgenomen.
In 1980 had ze een hit met het liedje De Roos, een cover van The Rose van Bette Midler, vertaald door Johan Verminnen.
In 1982 ging ze op tournee door Vlaanderen met Erik Van Neygen maar toen werd ze ernstig ziek.
Ze overleed in 1984, op 38-jarige leeftijd aan baarmoederhalskanker. Ze werd begraven op het kerkhof van Meise. Haar echtgenoot, Marc Hoyois, hertrouwde later opnieuw een zangeres, Liliane Saint-Pierre.
In november 2005 kwam onder impuls van Edwin Ysebaert een nieuw album uit met de titel 'Ik Deed Alsof Het Mij Niet Raakte'. Het bevat acht nooit eerder uitgegeven liedjes en drie liveversies van klassiekers als Dag Vreemde Man, Lisa is Lisa en Zal Ik Je Ooit Nog Zien. Zes van de acht nieuwe nummers komen uit de musical Midzomernachtsdroom en werden gecomponeerd en van tekst voorzien door Pieter Verlinden en Rita Van Dievel, de ouders van de bekende VRT-journalist Peter Verlinden.
In 2006 kwam een nieuw album uit met onuitgeven liedjes onder de titel HET BESTE. Opnieuw gebeurde dit onder de projectleiding van Edwin Ysebaert.
