Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン, Shin Seiki Evangerion), commonly referred to as NGE, Eva, or Evangelion, is a commercially and critically successful, influential, and popular Japanese anime that began in October 1995; the series launched the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. It is commonly regarded as one of the greatest anime of all time. The anime was created by Gainax, written and directed by Hideaki Anno, and co-produced by TV Tokyo and Nihon Ad Systems (NAS).
Evangelion is an apocalyptic mecha action series which centers around the efforts by the paramilitary organization NERV to fight monstrous beings called Angels, primarily using giant mecha called Evangelions which are piloted by select teenagers, one of whom is the primary protagonist. It follows those teenagers and other NERV members until the defeat of the Angels and the eventual apocalyptic ending.
Events in the series refer to Judeo-Christian symbols from the book of Genesis and Biblical apocrypha among others. Later episodes shift focus to psychoanalysis of the main characters, who display various emotional problems and mental illnesses; the nature of existence and reality are questioned in a way that lets Evangelion be characterized as "postmodern fantasy". Hideaki Anno, the director of the anime series, had suffered from clinical depression prior to creating the series, and the psychological aspects of the show are based on the director's own experiences with overcoming this illness.
In the original Japanese, the word "Evangelion" is pronounced with a hard g per its Greek roots (see Translation notes on the title below).

This is the "choral" part of the "Choral Fantasy" by Beethoven. Sung by a huge Russian choir (including a boys choir) with orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. This was the finale of a June 22 concert commemorating the Russian victory over the Germans in WWII. I remember that, ironically, the piano soloist was German (a gesture, I suppose). Note the incredible acoustics experienced from my spot in the balcony. I also remember that Alexander Solzhinitsyn was in the audience.

2. Mit unsrer Macht ist nichts getan, wir sind gar bald verloren; es streit' für uns der rechte Mann, den Gott hat selbst erkoren. Fragst du, wer der ist? Er heißt Jesus Christ,
der Herr Zebaoth, und ist kein andrer Gott, das Feld muß er behalten.

"A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" (German, Ein' feste Burg ist unser Gott) is the best known of Martin Luther's hymns. Luther wrote the words and composed the melody sometime between 1527-1529.
The Organ was built at the Schuke workshop in Berlin-Lichterfelde. It is a mechanical organ with four manuals and one pedal keyboard and an electric stop. 63 stops serve about 5,100 pipes (among them 170 Spanish trumpets).

Castelo Forte ou Castelo Forte é o Nosso Deus (em alemão: Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott) é um hino sacro, cantado em igrejas protestantes, composto por Martinho Lutero em 1529. O texto é baseado no Salmo 46, "Deus é nosso refúgio e fortaleza..."

Jumala ompi linnamme (joskus kirjoitetaan virheellisesti Jumala onpi linnamme) on suomalaisen virsikirjan tunnetuimpia virsiä. Virren alkuperäinen kirjoittaja on Martti Luther, jonka alkuperäisteksti Ein feste Burg vuodelta 1528 perustuu psalmiin numero 46: "Jumala on turvamme ja linnamme, auttajamme hädän hetkellä". Ein feste Burgista tuli jo Lutherin aikana uskonpuhdistuksen kannattajien tunnuslaulu.
