We are (I am) writing this letter (message) in moral outrage to protest the military repression and detention of Aung San Suu Kyi. Why is this happening to a winner of the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to bring democracy to Burma? She is an international symbol of heroic and peaceful resistance in the face of repression. Because of the imposed military repression of the people of Burma, their lives are intolerable and there are systematic abuses of their human rights.
We are (I am) demanding immediate release from detention and freedom for Aung San Suu Kyi and restoration of human rights and democracy in Burma through the elected National League for Democracy.

Transparency works best when all sides refrain from politically inflammatory rhetoric and simply stick to the facts. Iran is a signatory to non-proliferation treaties, which under current law, they are abiding to. Unlike some other nations, India and Israel for instance, which are NOT signatories to such treaties. Dual technology, including nuclear technology, is used by virtually every half-way developed nation these days - like it or not. There is no need for ANOTHER war. We already have enough of them.

Before I became aware of the depths of what was going on, for decades, to our fellow human beings, in Burma, now named Myanmar, I had no idea it was as profound as it is. Burma is, without a doubt, a tragedy.
Burma is a land where singing a song or reading a poem calling for democracy can lead to a long prison sentence.
No doubt some people in Myanmar are in prison because they did something wrong, but in comparison to those sent there, for doing nothing, it's drastic and unspeakable.
While in prison, if one is caught reading anything unauthorized or writing anything unauthorized, it can mean a possible 7 years added to a person's prison sentence.
If you own or use a FAX machine, and it wasn't registered with the government, it can and has been enough reason to send a person to prison.

I am very humbly requesting any fellow youtubers out there if they will take it upon themselves to make their own video to continue to increase awareness, to share it with everyone, because I truly believe there is strength in numbers. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. It can be short and simple.
Knowing she's been imprisoned for years, and for no reason It's cruel and pitiful that she stay confined when she knew her husband was very ill. She was not able to be by his side when he died of cancer, but I know in my heart they were both in each other's thoughts and souls during Michael's last days of life. I'm sure they both were in one another's minds and hearts every single day.
Write a school paper on her if you are allowed to pick the person. To any teachers out there -- Please have one day of awareness, teaching your students about what democracy is, how precious freedoms are. Introduce your students to Aung San Suu Kyi. Have the students write letters for her. She represents freedom, democracy, elegance and grace.
Fight the good fight, and this is one of those good "fights".
Aung San Suu Kyi is about 62 years old now. She's done absolutely nothing wrong. She is a graceful, humble, decent caring human
There are no regular visiting hours for her.
Than Shwe is Burma's leader of one of the world's most BRUTAL regimes.
Than Shwe should not be in power. He lost the election.
Perhaps the person that replaces him will show the world what a great leader is by freeing Suu Kyi, and all of the political prisoners. This will be a man history will look back on with fondness, a leader the people of Myanmar (and the world) will respect.
Last month she celebrated her birthday, isolated.
I can't help but think about her sons, how they worry about her and hurt for her. This is their mother, and she's been unjustly imprisoned, for years. I think about if that were my mother or my father, wrongfully imprisoned.
