6th September 2007 note: I added this video a year ago and I have received amazing feedback about it - it's wonderful to see how this video touched so many people all over the world. At the time of the upload there was only another version in YouTube with poor sound so I decided to take this one from the box-set DVD improving the video a little and the sound a whole lot - on hindsight perhaps I could have use slightly less video compression but I'm happy with the result.
The original song was taken from "Into the Labyrinth" album - which I heartily recommend, along with the whole Dead Can Dance discography.

From their farewell concert in London July 7 1968."The carnival is over"And their carnival was really over.Not until 1993 did they get together again with Judith as a lead singer.
They then more or less performed concerts together until 2004.But the years are moving on for all of us and they have retired for good now as a group after having their last tour ever summer of 2004.It's said,that their last ever concert was in Hong Kong fall of 2004.The only performing members of The Seekers now is Keith Potger and Judith Durham.But they will never be forgotten by us that love their music.
Some news:Judith performed in Melbourne now december 1 and she will release a new CD sometime next year.(2008)
Latest news:Judith performed a wonderful two hours concert with The Queensland Orchestra in Brisbane on June 28.It's reported that Judith was in glorious voice.
Afterwards she talked to the fans and signed autographs.
The lyrics for "The Carnival is over" was written by Tom Springfield and the melody is based on a old Russian folk song.
Judith had to put up a real fight to get
this song recorded as the boys rather would
record another song called "Hummingbird"
instead.But she got her will and it was
recorded first time in 1965.At it's peak this single record was selling 92,000 copies a day in the UK.

| The Carnival of the Animals: The Aquarium - 160 sec
Le Carnaval des Animaux' (The Carnival of the Animals) is a musical suite of fourteen movements by the French Romantic composer Camille Saint-Saëns.
Le Carnaval was composed in February 1886 while Saint-Saëns was vacationing in a small Austrian village. It was originally scored for a chamber group of flute, clarinet, two pianos, glass harmonica, xylophone, two violins, viola, cello and double bass, but is usually performed today with a full orchestra of strings, and with a glockenspiel substituting for the rare glass harmonica.
Saint-Saëns, apparently concerned that the piece was too frivolous and likely to harm his reputation as a serious composer, suppressed performances of it and only allowed one movement, Le Cygne, to be published in his lifetime. Only small private performances were given for close friends like Franz Liszt.
Saint-Saëns did, however, include a provision which allowed the suite to be published after his death, and it has since become one of his most popular works. It is a favorite of music teachers and young children, along with Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.
Strings without double-bass, two pianos, flute, and harmonica: This is one of the more musically rich movements. The melody is played by the flute, backed by the strings, on top of tumultuous, glissando like runs in the piano. The first piano plays a descending ten-on-one ostinato, while the second plays a six-on-one. These figures, plus the occasional glissando from the harmonica, are very evocative of a peaceful, dimly-lit aquarium. This intermittent section where the pianos play high sixteenths is reminiscent of parts of Tchaikovsky's ballet, The Nutcracker.
