After studying philosophy at UC Berkeley and Oxford, he traveled throughout Australia, India, Israel, and Scandanavia filming and interviewing people along the way. He settled in New York City in October 2001. He has directed television in Mexico City and penned four feature scripts.

Este jóven es de Marianao (Habana) y en el año 1992 junto con otros jóvenes intentó cruzar las cercas que rodean a la Base Naval de Guantánamo explotándole una mina que le llevó a perder sus dos piernas. Tras el incidente fue recogido por los militares cubanos que se esforzaron por acelerarle la muerte y conducido a la morgue de Guantánamo donde un medico se compadeció de él y le salvó la vida.
