Sunday afternoon was beautiful in more ways than one! Philanthropist, and sister in Christ, Sarah Hewlett and her husband Chad just moved to our area from Arizona and now worship with us in Beaverton. She introduced us to a charitable organization she works for called Ben's Bells. Yesterday we met with a group of about 20 people and listened to a mother's story of how her three year old boy named Ben passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a closed passageway to his lungs caused by croup. She went on to explain how much the small kindnesses of friends and strangers really helped her to survive this great loss. As therapy, she and her friends began making bells with messages attached that encourage kindness, and distributed them randomly in parks and in public places for others to find and take home as a reminder to look for opportunities to spread kindness in memory of Ben. To date they have hung about 10,000 bells around the country, and are funded by the sale of T-shirts and other items (not including bells)found on their website at www.bensbells.org Yesterday Me, my son Zach, my dear friend Erika Hargis and her daughter Kashka (aka "special K")left twenty bells for strangers to find including one at Burnside (Portland's Skid Row), at an assisted living facility, St. Vincent's Hospital, the Oncology Clinic, Police and Fire Stations, the Senior Center, and St.Mary's School for Boys. The two that made us most teary and made Kashka cry out "I feel so good right now!" was at a cemetery when we left one to hang from the thumb of a statue of Jesus on the cross, and my favorite moment, when we found a young woman all alone sitting next to a grave, Zach got out of the car and in her presence, and without a word, attached it to a tree a few feet from her as she watched, and left. Since each tag also includes the website address, this provides a place for those who find bells, to write their reactions and plans to spread kindness. Our St. Vincent Hospital bell has already been found by an ER Nurse who has written her "thank you" on the Ben's Bells Blog and is spreading the word of kindness among her coworkers. The four of us prayed that our bells would be found by those most in need of encouragement, but maybe we were the most encouraged of all.
There will be many more opportunities to help make or hang Ben's Bells, and we'd love for you to join us. I think you'll find it a meaningful and fun activity to do especially with your kids.

For some reason at about 3 mins the audio starts getting out of sync. I use Pinnacle Studio 9.3. The captured MPG was in sync, just the rendered mpg is out of sync. So if you know anything that I can do to fix it please let me know.

The main focus of the series is the Omnitrix, a watch-like alien device found by Ben in the first episode. Using it, Ben can transform into a number of different aliens, which he uses to battle the various villains in the series. As explained in the show, the Omnitrix works by binding alien DNA to Ben's, transforming him into the alien of his choice for ten minutes and then reverting him back to normal. As revealed in Ben 10: Race Against Time, the time limit is a failsafe designed to keep the alien DNA from overwhelming the user.
To prevent the obvious problem of someone simply stealing the Omnitrix from Ben, the Omnitrix is depicted as quite difficult to remove, being more less integrated into Ben's skin. Furthermore, when anyone tries, it emits an omni-directional energy burst to discourage such attempts. When people have actually removed the device, it seems to take them a very long time or complicated machinery to accomplish the task.
As a running gag, as well as an occasional plot point, the Omnitrix tends to work in ways contrary to Ben's wishes. This is because Azmuth created it to do so as a security precaution. It will transform him into the wrong alien, shut down at inopportune moments, or simply not activate at all. Various episodes show that at least part of this behavior is Ben's unfamiliarity with the device, and several episodes showcase people (or aliens) whose knowledge of the device allows them to operate it with much greater ease than Ben. When used to its full potential, the Omnitrix is shown to operate indefinitely and at will, rather than through Ben's ordinary manual selection.
The Omnitrix's origins are explored in Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix. Its creator, Azmuth, explains that he built it to provide the various species of the universe a better understanding of each other — the proverbial 'walk-a-mile-in-another's-shoes'. To that end, the Omnitrix absorbs and integrates the DNA of aliens for use by the one wearing it. Because of the combat potential in some of the aliens, particularly those Ben commonly transforms into, it came to be seen as a weapon by Vilgax. Afraid that it would be used for the wrong purposes, Azmuth installed a self-destruct feature into the Omnitrix, which served as the central plot point in Secret of the Omnitrix.
In the upcoming sequel Ben 10: Alien Force, Ben managed to remove the omnitrix by an unknown but painful process.When ben puts it back on the Omnitrix changes form into a more watch-like shape, giving Ben access to a new set of alien forms. Ben himself also retains any injuries suffered by his alien forms.
