Creation Astronomy Propaganda Debunked 02 - 592 sec
In this episode, we'll look at a couple of bogus attempts to undermine science related to Lunar and Solar astrophysics. I apologise for the somewhat erratic sound/volume in this video. I did not record it all in one go, and I have no idea what I'm doing in iMovie. The next one will be better. To those who were referred to me by DonExodus2, thank you for checking out my videos and I hope you'll like what you see enough to subscribe. To DonExodus2 himself, thank you very much indeed for your support. Various multimedia in this video was created by NASA/ESA/JAXA/ESO/Berkley/Exeter Errata: 1. I apologise, this is just completely wrong. It was thought up until 1965 that Mercury was tidally locked to the Sun, but was proven to have 3:2 spin orbit resonance. That means for every 2 years on Mercury, there are 3 days. One Mercurian year is about 88 Terran days and one Mercurian day about 59 Terran days. I think I was once told that Mercury *was* thought to be tidally locked with the Sun, and confused that to mean it was the current consesus. Again, sorry! Core Astronomy - Quasars - 117 sec
The advancements in radio telescope technology lead to the discovery of quasars. Core Astronomy examines the key points in the development of astronomy, beginning with Greek astronomer Ptolemy's earth centered paradigm to Nicolas Copernicus' introduction of a sun centered solar system, and Isaac Newton's three laws of motion. It then examines the discovery of Neptune, Einstein's theories of Special and General Relativity, Hubble's expanding universe, and the discoveries of quasars, white dwarfs, neutron stars, pulsars and black holes, and finally ends with astronomy's modern frontiers - the great attractor, dark matter and life existing on an extrasolar planet Buy it now: http://www.ambrosevideo.com/displayitem.cfm?vid=1233

COMETS - Astronomy - 253 sec
A comet is a small body in the solar system that orbits the Sun and (at least occasionally) exhibits a coma (or atmosphere) and/or a tail — both primarily from the effects of solar radiation upon the comet's nucleus, which itself is a minor body composed of rock, dust, and ice. Comets' orbits are constantly changing: their origins are in the outer solar system, and they have a propensity to be highly affected (or perturbed) by relatively close approaches to the major planets. Some are moved into Sun-grazing orbits that destroy the comets when they near the Sun, while others are thrown out of the solar system forever. A new comet may be discovered photographically using a wide-field telescope or visually with binoculars. However, even without access to optical equipment, it is still possible for the amateur astronomer to discover a Sun-grazing comet online by downloading images accumulated by some satellite observatories such as SOHO.

Astronomy from the Edge of Space - 1749 sec
A team of rocket scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Space Astronomy Laboratory talk about innovative developments such as the Star Tracker 5000, which offers important applications for the national space program. The device accurately orients spacecraft by tracking star fields with a high level of precision. The researchers also explain how they gather information with an ultraviolet telescope launched by rocket, providing insight into the levels of invisible light in the universe.

MARS - Astronomy - 189 sec

Astronomy questions from kids, Part 1 - 533 sec
My friend Tina is a teacher in Austin. She asked her sixth grade students to send me questions they had about astronomy, and I answer them on camera. There were so many I had to split this into *5* parts! This is Part 1, and these are the questions they asked me: 1) Why are you called the Bad Astronomer? 2) Have you ever been to space? 3) Do you think aliens are real? 4) If you were as scientist, what would you do? :-) 5) Is there life on other planets? 6) Will humans ever live on the Moon or Mars? 7) What's your favorite planet? 8) Pluto: planet or not?
