Chaffey College- Unprovoked Police Brutality and Arrests - 514 sec
On the Chaffey Community College campus, during one of our most peaceful days, the police arrest and brutalize Joey, James, and Jason after we all complied with school policy, during one of our most peaceful days of activism and free speech. Partial transcript of difficult-to-hear audio: -"He's choking him! He's choking him!"-Jason, as the camera is first pushed away from the door. You can hear him continuing to yell this for about a minute on both sides of the room, including the reception area. -"I'm not resisting!"-James, after he is slammed down on the table, supposedly for resisting the officers. The arrestees: 1st) Jason 2nd) James 3rd) Joey The context: -Listen to what Kortney, the camera person, is saying; she fills it all in. -Toward the end of this video, you can see the main entrance is closed, because they locked down the entire building, closed all the blinds, blocking that side door window with paper, ALL DURING THEIR NORMAL HOURS OF OPERATION, with all three arresttees locked inside for between 20 minutes (Joey) to over an hour (James and Jason). -These are the most talkative and brave members of our team, especially concerning injustice, even when under fire, as you can see at the beginning of the video. By the end of the video, you can see that they aren't saying anything. What did the police say/do to them to so drastically change their normal reactions? -None of them were informed what they were being arrested, nor given prior warning to being arrested, but rather complying with everything the police asked of them (except surrendering our recording devices, one of which they stole and refused to give back). The present situation: -2 of the 3 arrestees are still in a detention center under felony charges. Joey, the one whom they stole the recording device from was brought up on lesser charges. -When the normal police showed up, including San Bernardino Sheriffs and the Fontana police, both of which were informed of the assaults and offered to be shown the videos, talked with us a little, but then left without helping us. The campus police are free to continue doing as they please on the Chaffey College campus. If any of you would like to contact the Chaffey Campus Police Department, or the administration, here is the information: http://www.chaffey.edu **Phone numbers: *Campus Police: 909-652-6632 *Administration: 909/652-6161 *Public Relations: 909/652-6115 **The College Newspaper [#s and website]: (909) 652-6934 [Newsroom], (909) 477-8490 [Story Ideas], (909) 652-6934 [Editors and Staff] http://www.chaffeybreeze.com/contact/ -Call, e-mail, or whatever else you can do to complain, comment, and question to any or all of these departments concerning this obstruction of justice, unprovoked brutality, and spontaneous arrests of peaceful, cooperative prolife activists/free speech advocates performed by the Chaffey College Campus Police on duty on Tuesday, November 13th, 2007 between 10am and 2:30pm in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Here is the more detailed Survivors blog of this event: http://survivors.la/blog/index.php?id=62 One of the reasons we don't have film before the arrests started was because of how sudden they were, and because many of the CLT team had just talked a student out of aborting her baby, and dialoging with other students (for example, the young man giving the oddly-timed commentary about this injustice next to the door while this was all happening is a Chaffey student who had been talking with us before this scene errupted) We'll keep you updated as this story progresses. You don't see how much your rights in this country have really eroded away until you exercise them, and it is only by publicly exercising our rights that they remain secure. Apologies for the poor quality for most of the video; our equipment for porting video cassettes to computers wasn't working. We'll upload an unabridged high-quality version as soon as we can.

Arrests at U.S. Capitol in Antiwar Protest - 358 sec
Thirty-three antiwar protesters were arrested on Capitol Hill late this afternoon. They brought traffic to a complete halt at the intersections of New Jersey and Independence Avenues for nearly an hour. The Longworth and Cannon House Office buildings are also located there. The demonstrators refused to disperse from a sit down in the middle of the street. Under a huge blue banner that read, "Not one More Mothers Child," they defied the police order to disperse. They held high an American flag as the police moved in for the arrests. Led by Peace activist Cindy Sheehan, they shouted out: "Arrest George Bush! Arrest Dick Cheney!" At noon, the protesters had held a rally at Lafayette Park, opposite the White House, to launch the "SWARM on Congress" campaign." See, http://www.democracyrising.us/ for details. They then marched to Capitol Hill where the arrests took place.

Arrests at A-B Tech (Free Speech) - 274 sec
This is a video of Survivors being arrested on October 2nd, 2007 at 12:50pm doing free speech activity at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College (A-B Tech) in Asheville, North Carolina. Along with 5 Survivors Campus Life Tours members, 3 citizens of Asheville were arrested, including a current student of A-B Tech, the director of a local prolife group, and a former A-B Tech student. Each of us said things to the effect of, if they showed us this was not public property, we would gladly leave. They refused to answer our questions and instead ignored them, and arrested us because we refused to allow our 1st amendment rights to be trampled upon. The police unlawfully arrested us under what may be an unconstitutional North Carolina statute, which will be challenged in court. Survivors has won every case like this over the last 10 years, and the police and college administration were informed of this prior to the arrests. The college will also be sued, taking money away from their own community college students, due to insisting on these unlawful, anti-1st amendment arrests. In addition to defending the unborn, we are free speech advocates. Not backing down when being unlawfully arrested preserves all of our 1st amendment rights. Asheville Citizen Times article: http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200771002143 -The article doesn't really make it clear, but there were 5 Survivors arrested (2 female, 3 male) plus 3 Asheville residents (1 female, 2 male), with a total of 3 females and 5 males arrested. Hillsborough County Fl. Deputy Kevin Stabins Arrests Woman - 162 sec
Deputy Kevin Stabins didn't believe the crying woman. He told investigators he thought she was lying to get out of a speeding ticket and that his actions in arresting her were "fine." His dashboard camera showed otherwise. It showed the Hillsborough County deputy yanking a sobbing Melissa J. Langston out of a car in a hospital parking lot Nov. 1 and using his elbow to shove her over the trunk to handcuff her. Langston, 37, sobbed and pleaded with the deputy that her father had suffered a heart attack and that she was trying to find him. "And I told you not to go anywhere, didn't I?" Stabins said. "Now you're not going to see him because you're going to jail. Not smart. Not smart. Have a seat, you're under arrest." Officials said Stabins' lack of compassion and use of "excessive and unnecessary" force in the arrest Nov. 1 brought him a five-day suspension without pay. The recommendation came after a recent Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office disciplinary hearing. All charges against Langston were dropped. Stabins, 29, is a good deputy who "used poor judgment in that situation," Sheriff David Gee said Wednesday. "I understand that it's difficult when you get out there," Gee said. "I give deputies the ability to use discretion [in making arrests]. He didn't use that here." Clocked Doing 63 In A 35 mph Zone Stabins had tracked Langston traveling 63 mph in a 35 mph zone. He turned on his cruiser's flashing lights and sirens as she neared University Community Hospital, and the distraction caused her to miss two entrances, officials said. The video shows Stabins walking up to Langston's car, and her saying she was looking for the emergency room entrance. Stabins made no attempt to verify the woman's story about her father's heart attack and asked for her ID. Langston asked if Stabins could issue her the ticket in the emergency room, but Stabins returned to his patrol car to write the citation

The Code of the County of DeKalb, Georgia can be found at http://www.municode.com/Resources/gateway.asp?pid=10637&sid=10 Public Gathering. Sec. 16-92. Public meetings. (a) Nothing in this article shall be interpreted as prohibiting use of county property for meeting purposes by citizens of the county, provided such meetings are to be held at a time which will not interfere with regular and/or official county administrative business, and that no unusual maintenance and security costs will be placed upon the county; provided, further, that written consent shall have been first obtained from the chief executive. (b) As an exception to subsection (a) of this section, there shall be designated a location within the courthouse campus area which may be used as a public forum under peaceful and lawful conditions, at the will of any citizen, provided such assembly does not interfere with county business or encumber any person having or desiring to conduct business in the county facilities. The subject area shall be identified by the chief executive and shall be subject to change as conditions necessitate. Sec. 17-211. Definition. In this article "parade" means an assemblage of persons, groups of persons, vehicles, bands, floats or devices gathered together in public with some circumstance of show and shall not include a funeral procession or an assemblage of public officials gathered for any purpose in the public interest. (Code 1976, § 8-11018) Sec. 17-221. Required. It shall be unlawful for any person or group of persons to hold or participate in a parade in the unincorporated area of the county, without first securing a parade permit from the county. (Code 1976, § 8-11019) Noise Ordinance. Sec. 16-58. Disorderly conduct. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to act in a loud and boisterous, reckless, unruly or violent manner for the purpose of insulting, degrading, or inciting another or a group of individuals in a public place. (b) It is not the intent of this section to restrict any individual's right to free speech. (Ord. No. 90-32, § 1, 8-14-90) (((Might have a case there, Freedom of speech!))) This one wasn't exactly verifiable, as it comes from www.dunwoodynorth.org/zoning Noise DeKalb Ordinance (Chapter 16/Art III/Div 1/Sec 16-46) (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to make, continue or cause to be made or continued any loud, unnecessary or unusual sound or noise which either annoys, disturbs, injures or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others in the county, and which is audible to a person of normal hearing ability more than fifty (50) feet from the point of origin of the sound or noise. But there seems to be evidence of support, here, Sec. 16-46. Reserved. Editor's note: Ord. No. 06-04, Pt. I, adopted July 13, 2004, repealed former § 16-46 of the Code, which pertained to noise and derived from the 1976 Code, § 10-2002. However, I haven't found Ord. No. 06-04.... I don't know what list they are talking about. This might be of great help, if you are in DeKalb County, and the Co$ sends picketers to your house... Sec. 16-28. Residential picketing prohibited. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in picketing upon, before, or about the private residence or home of any individual. (b) Picketing shall include, but not be limited to, the following types of activity: (1) Staging a public or private protest of any kind. (2) Obstructing passage to or from a residence. (3) Promoting a strike or a boycott at a residence. (4) To intimidate or otherwise harass the resident. (c) It is the purpose of this section to protect and preserve the home, inasmuch as the public health and welfare and the good order of the county require that citizens of the county enjoy a feeling of peace, well-being, and privacy in their homes at all times. (Ord. No. 89-15, § 1, 4-11-89) Editor's note: Ordinance No. 89-15, adopted April 11, 1989, did not specifically amend this Code; hence, inclusion of § 1, as § 16-28 was at the discretion of the editor. ...It's illegal. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has participated in this. Get the facts, It's all out there, know the rules before you play the game. Thanks a lot, and keep it going strong.

UNMIK & KFOR arrests Serbs - K. Mitrovica 17March08 Video1 - 116 sec
Exactly 4 years after Albanian pogrom against Serb, UNMIK and KFOR arrested Serbs who were protesting to return to their old job by taking a court in north Kosovska Mitrovica. 17. March 2004 over 3000 Serbs have to leave their homes to save their life's of Albanian terrorists. And this date UNMIK and KFOR used to solve the court problem in Kosovska Mitrovica. Very poor of you UNMIK and KFOR at all! Why UNMIK and KFOR don't correct the illegal step of Albanian UCK terrorist Taci by declaring Kosovo is a new Albanian Republic that quick? Because they support Muslim Albanian Terror and don't respect UN resolution 1244. Sorry UNMIK and KFOR, but this way you lose even the last trust Serbs have in you!

Civil Disobedience Brings Arrests at U.S. Capitol - 296 sec
On Saturday, September 15, 2007, the ANSWER Coalition, a progressive antiwar group, sponsored a Mass March and Die-In in Washington, D.C. Its purpose was to raise the consciousness of enough people in this country to stop the illegal and immoral Iraq War and to prevent the Bush-Cheney Gang from launching a war against Iran. The rally took place in Lafayette Park, just north of the White House, where a number of prominent speakers were heard. It was followed by a march by the demonstrators to the U.S. Capitol, where a symbolic "Die-In" took place. The later affair was led by members of the Iraq Veterans Against the War. An estimated 1,000 of the protesters took part in the "Die-In" part of the event. Some of the demonstrators were also arrested by Capitol Hill police for failing to obey a police order, or for crossing a police line, and/or for possibly various other charges, too. One of the protesters arrested was Brian Becker, National Coordinator for the ANSWER Coalition. For additional details, and updates, on the Sept. 15th rally, and for the exact number of arrests, please see: www.ANSWERCoalition.org. At 11 PM, on 9/15/07, ANSWER was reporting that there had been about 200 arrests at the Capitol and that about 5,000 protesters had ended up participating in the "Die-In."

Sept 15 Anti-War March: Capitol Hill Arrests - 237 sec
Civil Disobedience arrests at the September 15th March to Stop The War from the Whitehouse to the Capitol Building. Music: M.I.A. - "Paper Planes" I had the pleasure of attending the September 15th war protest in Washington, D.C. This event is supposed to represent a turning point in the anti-war movement, one where we take our level of protest from marches to direct, nonviolent acts to let our elected officials know that we demand change. Following a mass die-in in front of the Capitol building, Iraq War veterans, students, parents, grandparents, and other concerned citizens intentionally crossed the police barriers in front of the Capitol in an act of civil disobedience to show Bush, Cheney, Hillary, Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and the rest that we mean buisiness. 197 courageous individuals were arrested in total. This event is hoped to be a catalyst for similar acts throughout the nation.
