Hello MMA fans this is Dana Ward here with a quick hitter from Ultimate Fighting. Today we look at an exciting fight on the under card of Affliction “Banned” Saturday July 19th on Pay-per-view. A Fight in the heavyweight division as Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arlovski will battle “Big Ben” Rothwell.
The Striker Arlovski is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion who back in February of 2005 at UFC 51 defeated Tim Sylvia by submission to earn the title. The hard-hitting native of Belarus has a professional record of 13 wins and 5 losses with 9 victories by way of knockout. He is on a 3 fight-winning streak and in his last fight defeated Jake O’Brien at UFC 82 in March of this year by TKO. It marked the first time O’Brien had suffered defeat in a professional mixed martial arts event. Arlovski signed a 3-fight contract with Affliction leaving the UFC after 8 years with the #1 MMA promotion.
American Ben Rothwell is a top 10 heavyweight in the sport and has won 13 straight fights. A mixed martial artist with great power and agility has spent his last 2 years fighting in the International Fight League. The IFL is the MMA promotion seen on Fox Sports Net since 2006. Rothwell has a professional record of 27 wins and 5 losses with 17 wins by way of knockout. Rothwell in his last fight with IFL defeated former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez by unanimous decision back in September of 2007.

MMA's newest fight league Affliction will make its debut Saturday Night July 19th with a Pay-per-view fight card titled "Affliction Banned," and it originates from the Honda Center in Anaheim California. Making his debut in the sport is Donald Trump who is co-promoting this event.
In the main event, Russian superstar heavyweight Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko will clash against American Tim "The Maniac" Sylvia.
Fedor has compiled an impressive record over his 8 year professional career with 28 wins 1 loss and 1 no-contest over his 30 fights. He spent much of his career fighting in Japan under the Pride promotion and was their final Heavyweight Champion. Pride was acquired by the UFC, Fedor's fight contract expired at the time and he failed to come to terms with the US-based promotion. Among Fedor's victims includes 2 wins over UFC Hall of Famer, Mark "The Hammer" Coleman. Fedor specializes in many fight styles such as sambo, judo, boxing and Muay Thai. 15 of the Russian fighter's 28 victories have come by submission.
Tim "The Maniac" Sylvia is a strong striker, standing 6 feet 8 inches tall and he held the UFC World Heavyweight title on 2 separate occasions. He has a professional record of 24 wins and 4 losses with 16 wins by knockout. Working in the favor of Sylvia will be his plus-8-inch height and 30-pound weight advantage over his opponent. Many MMA fans remember Sylvia in 2004 who while competing in the UFC failed to tap out and suffered a broken arm while in an armbar submission hold by Frank Mir - It took a referee stoppage to put an end to that one. Sylvia will have a tough test against this Russian heavyweight, who many outside the UFC, call the best pound for pound fighter in mixed martial arts.

Affliction has finally confirmed that Fedor Emelianenko-Andrei Arlovski will indeed take place January 24 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Affliction released on Tuesday a commercial (see below) for the "Day of Reckoning" event.
Prior to the release of the commercial, Affliction would only say that the main event and January 24 date would probably happen, but wouldn't confirm the details 100%.
Vladimir Matyushenko, Jay Hieron, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Renato "Babalu" Sobral, Josh Barnett, Chris Horodecki, Matt Lindland and Vitor Belfort are all being advertised for the event.
Of the advertised fighters, the matchups originally put together for October 11 were Josh Barnett vs. Andrei Arlovski (Fedor would have fought Arlovski but Fedor suffered a hand injury), Matt Lindland vs. Vitor Belfort, Chris Horodecki vs. Dan Lauzon, and Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
