Hello Everyone! Here is the updated version of the "Bienvenidos a Las Animas" movie.
Since our visit with the Distinguished School judges is completed, (thank you everyone!), I revised the video a bit and added in a few more pictures. (In the beginning of the previous version, it said: "Las Animas welcomes...[names of judges.]" Taking this out gave me 12 more seconds of video time. You can do a lot with 12 seconds. See if you can spot what is different from the previous version. :)
I'd still love to receive any and all Las Animas photos you have, as we are collecting them for Mrs. Guerrero for the yearbook. Thanks! - Diana Torres

| Las Animas Elementary School, Gilroy, CA- What a year! - 520 sec
This is the opening video for our end of year assembly at Las Animas Elementary School in Gilroy, CA.
It summarizes some of the activities and events from the 2007/2008. I wish there was time to show everything that happened over the school year, all the students, all the teachers, and all the parents who participated to make things happen, but, I would have needed to make an epic mini-series to fit all that in. We had an incredible first year at our new campus!
The old school was demolished in the summer of 2007, after being open for over 50 years. It was the oldest school in the Gilroy Unified School District. The new school opened on time, with the rest of Gilroy Unified, but just barely... the teachers had just 48 hours to unpack everything before the first day of school! A huge call for HELP!!!! went out to all the parent volunteers, and working together, boxes were unpacked, furniture was assembled, (I helped with some of that, staring in puzzlement at convulted instructions that I think were translated by machine...), and posters were hung on the freshly painted walls. By the time school started on Thursday, August 23rd, we were all very tired, but the school was ready.
This video shows some of the highlights from the school year. Right from the celebration and dancing at our Spring Festival, to our PeaceBuilder assemblies, to shots of students in the classrooms, to "Elvis is in the house."
There is also a great "Raiders of the Lost Ark" montage, showing some of the awesome field trips students took throughout the year. (Because as Jay Leno says: "Everything sounds better to the tune of "Raiders of the Lost Ark.") (Although, I made this video two months before he ever said that...)

Oh, did I mention we also won "California Distinguished Shools" this year?
Oh, and we also won the Title I Academic Achievement Award.
I wonder what next year will be like?
