The story of the people who began to jump from the World Trade Center just minutes after the first plane hit. Their images were caught on videotape and in photographs, but soon they were never seen again, as if they had never existed. September 11, 2001 - five years after the attacks many people are asking questions about what happened on that day in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. Websites, articles, books and documentaries have put forward a variety of alternate theories to the government's account of what happened. The most popular of these is a documentary called "Loose Change." Now, a book dealing with many of these theories has just been published by the magazine Popular Mechanics, it's called "Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can't Stand Up to the Facts." In a Democracy Now! national broadcast exclusive, we host a debate between the filmmakers of Loose Change and the editors of Popular Mechanics on 9/11.

9/11 Coincidences (Part Four) ---------------------------- The sites displayed at the end of each video in my 9/11 Coincidences series are provided so that people have a place to start their investigations. These sites are not displayed as a means of backing up any one point of view. And those sites may not necessarily be of the opinion that we should question whether a plane actually hit the Pentagon. The websites are provided so that people will view all sides of the story and then come to their own conclusions. Unlike some other videos on 9/11, the 9/11 Coincidences series does not promote the no-planes theory. If it did then you'd expect to see the subject covered in some detail. Instead all you see on the subject is the 1:13 seconds here in Part 4 that points out the fact that the government has not released an image showing the plane that hit the Pentagon. And in Part 10 a brief mention is made about the size of the Pentagon hole. This series of videos does not try to push any particular theory. It merely lays out the facts and points out the anomalies, while providing links to further info concerning what is being said about all those anomalies. This particular aspect of 9/11 is a very hot potato, and whether you think it is a red-herring or not, it deserves to be discussed instead of being swept under the carpet. It seems to me that ignoring the subject is the cowardly thing to do if you want to do a documentary that encourages people to look at all of the facts. That's why I have touched on the subject here, albeit very briefly, so that people can at least think about it, and then go to sites like "WhatReallyHappened" and "911InPlaneSite" and other sites, to decide for themselves. That's the fair way to do it. If I had ignored the Pentagon aspect of 9/11 then many people would accuse me of being some kind of shill. It is a very tight and thin rope that you have to walk when expressing your thoughts on the whole 9/11 subject. And the more facts you bring up, the greater the chance of upsetting someone because they don't agree that those particular facts have any relevance. The purpose of Part 4 is to briefly say : "Look, there are some anomalies that raise questions about whether a Boeing jet really did hit the Pentagon. It is not by any means conclusive but here are a couple of facts supporting that line of inquiry... Now go and do some investigations for yourself, and here's a couple of sites that you might find useful for further opinions on this topic..." NufffRespect

FBI Special Agent Fitzgerald stepped up to the plate and laid out the facts, "I believe they feel a sense of outrage against the United States. They identify with the Palestinian problem, they identify with people who oppose repressive regimes and I believe they tend to focus their anger on the United States." But this testimony was kept out of the 9/11 Commission Report and no recommendation was given to address the main motive for the 9/11 attacks. After the report was issued, the ten commissioners formed the "9-11 Public Discourse Project." At the August 2, 2005 session on foreign policy, Lee Hamilton quickly tries to silence someone who asks why US support for Israel isn't being addressed. The questioner started to ask, "Mr. Hamilton? I had a quick question for you sir. I had spoken with you on C-SPAN about a month ago ..." Immediately Hamilton interrupts him, "I think we'd uh ..." The questioner persisted, "why aren't we addressing the gorilla in the room? The gorilla in the room is US support for Israel." He corrects Hamilton's claim that the Israeli-Palestinian dispute wasn't addressed in the 9/11 Commission Report by referring to page 147 of the report which says, "By his own account, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's animus toward the United States stemmed not from his experiences there as a student, but rather from his violent disagreement with U.S. foreign policy favoring Israel." The questioner keeps getting interrupted by Hamilton as he pleads, "Why aren't we addressing that sir?" Hamilton didn't answer and dismisses the questioner, "Alright sir. Alright, this is a conversation you and I ought to have. Let's not take up the time of our resource people. May we go to the next question please?" "This was sensitive ground," Hamilton and Kean say in their new book, "Without Precedent: The Inside Story of the 9/11 Commission," and some commissioners worried "listed U.S. support of Israel as a root cause of al Qaeda's opposition to the United States indicated that the United States should reassess that policy." There is a reason politicians don't want US support of Israel listed as a root cause of al Qaeda's terrorism. There is a reason politicians don't want the American people to "reassess that policy." If the public were to take a good look at the facts, if they researched what the policies actually do to people in the Middle East, they would be horrified. Politicians lie to us about "hatred of our freedoms" because they care more about serving special interests than about keeping us safe.The Commissioners were more interested in playing politics than in fulfilling the 9/11 Commission's mandate to "to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks." These politicians betrayed the American people.
