"1, 2 Step" is a an uptempo hip hop based urban song recorded by Ciara and Missy Elliott for Ciara's debut album Goodies (2004). Written by Ciara and Missy Elliott and produced by Jazze Pha, it was released as the album's second single in October 2004 (see 2004 in music) in the United States and the second quarter of 2005 (see 2005 in music) internationally. It reached the top ten in several countries worldwide. The song is heavily-inspired by 1980s electro music production. Throughout the lyrics, Ciara gives a description how the song's beat feels as she demands party-goers to dance to the music.
"1, 2 Step" is one of four songs originally recorded at Doppler Studios in Atlanta two years before the release of Goodies. Pha asked Missy Elliott to appear on the track and she accepted. Elliott recorded her rap verse at the Hit Factory Criteria in Miami. Jazze Pha quoted that he completed the instrumental in four minutes. Pha said after feeling the others' energy in the recording studio makes "the best ones come real quick, in like four to eight minutes".
"1, 2 Step" is a R&B--futuristic track, which is strongly influenced by 1980s electro music. The song was created on one of Jazze Pha's five Akai MPC3000s. Pha used laser pulses from E-mu Proteus 2000s that were used for old school hip hop songs and b-boy break dance tracks. Engineer Nico Solis says, "The zaps are his signature, his hi-hat when he's doing futuristic beats".[1] "1, 2 Step" is inspired by Afrika Bambaataa's "Planet Rock". Jazze Pha thought about how he could create a more melodic version, "almost like roller-skating music". He believed it would fit Ciara's image.

Start A:
Step 1: from the original six step position, kick your left leg to the right side as if you were going to 3step.
Step 2: Pull your left leg back so that your legs make a V. This should look like step 3 of the 6step.
Step 3: Straighten your right leg and sweep it around your left, when it passes in front of your body you should switch from left hand to your right hand.
(Once you have these steps down you should combine steps two and three. They should happen simultaneously.)
Step 4: Without stopping after step three lower your left hand and use your left leg to force your body upwards into the air, while you are in the air shift your weight onto your left hand while twisting your torso. Extend your left leg forward and you should land at 180degrees of your previous position back into step 1.
Start B:
Exactly the same as start A, difference is you start at the end of Step 2 and continue.
VARIATION
When you are at step 4 and twisting your torso, open your legs wide instead of keeping them closed. This has two effects, it slows the motion down, but creates a more interesting look (in my opinion). There is a time to use each, and it is best to use both variations in the appropriate places.
In addition there is another variation where you stab your torso. I don't like this variation so I don't really cover it. If you want to learn it just stab while you are twisting your torso.
TIPS
1. Your sweeping leg should never fully touch the ground during the sweeping motion, it should glide as close to the ground as possible without ever fully touching.
2. Your feet should always be under your backside and only on the toe portion when they are not extended.
3. Your butt should never raise higher than your head while spinning. You want your torso to be about parallel to the ground.
That does it for now, any advice on how to make this guide (text or video) better is appreciated, hopefully this fills in the hole that this forum has needed for a while for a good 2 step guide.
