| The Mighty Hercules - Search of the Golden Apples - 332 sec
This 1963 cartoon by the Trans Lux folks (ie: Speed Racer) was in the '60s tradition of limited animation, yet great orchestrated theme music. Like Spiderman, Superman and Batman of the '60s. Themes you remember, animation you'd rather forget! ;-)
Herc himself, has a simlar look to the Curt Swan Superman of the time, doubtless because he was crafted by ex-DC Comics folks. (and of course, Superman owes part of his heritage to the ancient Hercules mythos)
Being at the beginning of the 'idiot sidekick' era, where no serious cartoon could be without a stupid sidekick, supposedly to attract children to watch, Herc has his Jimmy Olsen in a young centaur, Newton.
But the series was still great at its time. A lot of literary accuracy in the episodes, using 'real' Hercules stories as the basis for the episodes. And a lot of fun!
