Among his more famous works was a poem entitled A'obbad al-Maseeh Fi Naqd al-Nasraniyyah (O Christ-Worshippers! In Answering Christianity).
This Poem is well-known in the Muslim world and has even been turned into a song.
The following is the English translation of the poetry from the Arabic original:
" O Christ-worshippers! We want an answer to our question [from your wise ones],
If the Lord was murdered by some people's act, what kind of god is this?
We wonder! Was He pleased by what they did to Him?
If yes, blessed be they, they achieved His pleasure,
But if He was discontented, this means their power had subjugated Him!
Was the whole entity left without a Sustainer, so who answered the prayers?
Were the heavens vacated, when He laid under the ground somewhere?
Were all the worlds left without a God, to manage while His hands were nailed?
Why did not the angels help Him, when they heard him while he wailed?
How could the rods stand to bear the True Lord when He was fastened,
How could the irons reached Him and [had] His body pinned?
How could His enemies' hands reach Him and slap His rear,
And was Christ revived by himself, or was the Reviver another god?
What a sight it was, a grave that enclosed a god,
Stranger still is the belly that confined Him!
He stayed there for nine months in utter darkness, fed by blood!
Then he got out of the womb as a small baby,
Weak and gasping to be breast-fed!
He ate and drank, and did what that naturally resulted,
Is this [what you call] a god?
High Exalted be Allah above the lies of Christians,
All of them will be held accountable for their libels!
O Cross-worshippers! For what reason is this exalted and blame [is cast upon those] who reject it?
Is it not logical to break and burn it, along with the one who innovated it?
Since the Lord was crucified on it, and his hands were fastened to it?
That is really a cursed cross to carry,
So discard it, do not kiss it!
The Lord was abused on it, and you adore it?
So [it is clear that] you are one of His enemies!
If you extol it because it carried the Lord of the Worlds,
Why don't you prostrate yourself and worship graves, Since the grave contained your god in it?
So Christ-worshipper, open your eyes,
This is what the matter is all about. "

في عصر سادت فيها حالة من الصراع بين الشرق والغرب.. كان هناك وميض علمي يصل بين الشرق والغرب.. هو علم ابن الشاطر.. الفلكي والرياضي المسلم . تذكر معظم الروايات أن ابن الشاطر ولد بدمشق 1304م،وتوفى 1376م بدمشق أيضا. توفى والده وهو في السادسة من عمره وكفله جده بعدها ،ثم تولاه زوج خالته وابن عم أبيه في نفس الوقت. عرف بالأدب والتواضع و انشغاله بالعلم وحبه للقراءة,أما عن اتجاهاته العلمية فقد اهتم بدراسة الفلك والهندسة والنجوم. لقب برئيس المؤذنين بالجامع الأموي،و كان له إشراف على تحديد مواقيت الصلاة وأهلة الشهور الهجرية,كما قام بالرصد في دمشق،وعلى هذا الرصد قامت أعماله وأبحاثه. تجلت نشاطات ابن الشاطر العلمية والتقنية في تطوير الآلات الفلكية وفى نظرية حركة الكواكب ويمكن أن تقسم الأدوات التي ابتكرها وصممها إلى آلات تستعمل في الرصد الفلكي للكواكب والنجوم وأخرى في الحساب. وما الساعة الشمسية التي وضعها في الجامع الأموي بدمشق سوى مثال حي على هذا النوع ، وقد صنعها في عام 1317م وهى محفوظة حاليا في المتحف الوطني بدمشق ،وتمثل الساعة النحاسية الصغيرة المحفوظة في المكتبة الأحمدية بحلب نموذجا لابتكاراته ،و توجد آله فلكية من صنعه في المكتبة الوطنية بباريس تعرف عند العلماء بالآلة الجامعة لأنها تقوم بعمل أكثر من آلة تستخدم في الحسابات الفلكية،وكانت تعد من الإنجازات الكبرى في عصره. وإذا ما عدنا لنظرية ابن الشاطر عن الكواكب السيارة فإننا نجد فيها تكملة لجهود الفلكيين السابقين وتنقية لنظام بطليموس من أخطائه وفى نفس الوقت نجدها على درجة عالية من الدقة في حساب مواضع هذه الكواكب. ونجد في مؤلفات ابن الشاطر نقدا لسابقيه من الفلكيين وبخاصة نصير الدين الطوسي إلا انه أخذ من أعمالهم. وأكثر ما يلفت النظر أن الآلات الرياضية التي ابتكرت من قبل هؤلاء الأفراد هذه الأدوات هى بالضبط تلك التي استعملت من قبل كوبرنيكوس الذي عاش بعد قرن من ابن الشاطر. إن ابن الشاطر ،جدير أن يحمل هذا الاسم في اثر ما ابتكره من آلات مهر في وضعها على أتم وجه لتكون من جملة الإنجازات الحضارية العظيمة التي قدمتها هذه الأمة إلى العلم والعالم.

اليوم آخذكم في رحلة في رحاب الطب والفلسفة ، لأعرفكم على ابن النفيس، أو أبي الحسن علاء الدين علي بن أبي الحزم المعروف بابن النفيس، وأحياناً بالقرشي نسبة إلى بلدة(القرش)التي كانت بقرب دمشق. ولد ابن النفيس بدمشق سنة 1210م وتوفي بالقاهرة سنة 1288م. درس الطب في دمشق على مشاهير العلماء، وخصوصاً على مهذّب الدين الدخوار. ثم نزل مصر ومارس الطب في المستشفى الناصري، ثم في المستشفى المنصوري الذي أنشأه السلطان قلاوون. وأصبح عميد أطباء هذا المستشفى، وطبيب السلطان بيبرس، وكان يحضر مجلسه في داره جماعة من الأمراء وأكابر الأطباء. قيل في وصفه أنه كان شيخاً طويلاً، أسيل الخدين، نحيفاً، ذا مروءة. وكان قد ابتنى داراً بالقاهرة، وفرشها بالرخام حتى إيوانها. وقد أوقف داره وكتبه وكل ما له على البيمارستان المنصوري. كان ابن النفيس معاصراً لمؤرخ الطب الشهير ابن أبي أصيبعة، صاحب (عيون الأنباء في طبقات الأطباء)، ودرس معه الطب على ابن دخوار، ثم مارسا في الناصري سنوات. و لم تقتصر شهرة ابن النفيس على الطب، بل كان يعد من كبار علماء عصره في اللغة، والفلسفة، والفقه، والحديث. أما في الطب فكان يعد من مشاهير عصره، وله مصنفات عديدة اتصف فيها بالجرأة وحرية الرأي، إذ كان، خلافاً لعلماء عصره، يناقض أقوال ابن سينا وجالينوس عندما يظهر خطأها. ولهذا العالم الجليل عدة كتب ومؤلفات أهمها: الشامل في الطب وهو كتاب موسوعي في الطب يشبه موسوعة (الحاوي) لأبي بكر الرازي. وهو موسوعة كان ينوي إتمامها في 300 جزء,إلا انه لم يكتب منها بصورة نهائية سوى ثمانين. تعد هذه الموسوعة أكبر الموسوعات الطبية الإسلامية,وهي تشتمل على أرائه العلمية وتجاربه والجديد الذي توصل إليه خاصة في الأدوية واستخداماتها في معالجة الإمراض . ومن مؤلفاته أيضا: المهذّب في الكحالة (أي في طب العيون) وشرح فصول أبقراط و شرح مسائل حنين بن اسحق و شرح الهداية و الموجز في الطب وهو موجز لكتاب القانون لابن سينا و شرح قانون ابن سينا و شرح تشريح القانون الذي بيّن أن ابن النفيس قد سبق علماء الطب إلى معرفة هذا الموضوع الخطير من الفيزيولوجيا
