I took Greg's acapella Song For Renetto with his expressed permission and tried to come up with some backing music. Greg's melody seemed to be in E major. I slowed it down, and cut and pasted the vocals onto a simple, repeating E to D progression I created using some midi and guitar.

It is a vocal intense song, so I tried to restructure in an attempt to reduce the amount of time listeners would be subject to my vocals, but I don't think it was successful in that regard. One of my more notable You Tube experiences as of late -- was receiving a PM from legendary You Tube great Greg Sol-o-mon asking for clarification regarding a comment I made in which I state -- That way back when, Eden Maze sent me an unusual PM
I explained to Greg that it was a silly e-argument of sorts -- At that time, I had denied being a YT attention seeker -- But everyone on You Tube is an attention seeker Mr. Maze reports -- I did not concur, I prefer to refer to myself as a filmmaker
Eden Maze promptly blocked me and I blocked him I admit -- Not long before I SOLD OUT -- Mr. Maze sent me a PM from a sock account -- He was unblocking me because he felt that any and all comments -- Were ultimately to his financial benefit
I still have Mr. Maze blocked to thwart -- Weird PMs and in solidarity with those whose priority is art -- Just as NewWarriorMan supports poetry -- On second thought maybe art IS creating something out of nothing for money

The song was an exercise in the Frank Gambale concept in understanding modes by using chord progressions that use the 4 and 5 chords of the major scale on which the mode is based. Example, C Phrygian uses the notes of Ab Ionian. The 4 and 5 of Ab are Db and Eb. Those chords are played while the lead work is C Phrygian and the bass is in C. This mode creates tension. Hopefully, it is noticeable when the mode changes to C Dorian and the chords change to the 4 and 5 of Bb to relieve the tension.

| The New Guitar Strings Song - 107 sec
Installed a set of GHS Boomers LOW (11-53) and did a poem type thing to discuss it. I tune them down 4 half steps. I came up with a simple sequence in Project5 then imported to Sonar and recorded the vocals and the guitar track. Guitar was to some extreme settings on the PODxt Live with the wah wah pedal activated.
Here is the poem narrative thing. It starts by mentioning the mysterious video reply I received months. When I click the link, the mailbox thing is empty...

This 'thing' is my submission to the Sketchies2 contest which closes tonight at midnight, so hurry if you are going to submit a vid for it. The required theme is a road trip and a musical instrument so I kind of recycled the general concept in the previous vid. This was difficult though. I used a lot of catnip to keep the cat interested.
The Car Full of Cats Song is recorded in Sonar using several Dimension Pro soft synths and one guitar track using a Warmoth guitar strung with 11's tuned down to C standard into a Seymour Duncan Parallel Axis Distortion pickup an Line 6 Podxt processor. The car coincidentally is a Toyota.

Sorry but this attempt to share a mountain bike ride in Trumbull Old Mine Park and Indian Ledge did not work out as hoped for. Mounting a camera on bicycle handlebars does not work! I have to devise some other method. Anyhow, hopefully this will show some nice Connecticut wilderness. There is a river on one side and a highway on the other, but the GPS device helped when I lost the trail at which time I filmed some ledges and trees.

Music vid with footage from the trek to and from the Blue Note in Manhattan to see Chick Corea's Elektrik Band which happens to be just south of Washington Square Park. I sat at the bar and they said video footage was not allowed. They don't really do anything about taking quick vid clips on digital, no flash cameras though.
