Vacation Workout for Beginners - 715 sec
http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com Vacation is a great time to start working out! In this video I show you a fitness routine for the complete beginner that you can incorporate into your vacation, no equipment is required and it can actually make your vacation more enjoyable. The most important aspect of the workout is the cardio. Park the car and dont get back in it till its time to drive home. Rent a bike for transportation or walk everywhere, not only does it provide exercise but its a lot more enjoyable and lower stress than driving. The workout can be incorporated into your daily tourist activities and doesnt need any special time alloted. The workout is: biking or walking, 1-2hrs per day crunches for core/abs, 2 sets per day (should take less than 5 minutes) pushups for chest and triceps, 2 sets per day (should take less than 5 minutes) pullups for lats and biceps, 2 sets per day (should take less than 5 minutes) I spend a lot of time in the video showing various places to do pullups, this is because I get an incredible number of emails from people who claim that they have "nowhere' to do pullups. In the video I point out lots of places you can do this key exercise. The reason many people dont get started in bodybuilding is that it seems to complex and intimidating, thats why I recommend this simple program. Its an easy program and you start feeling better immediately, and your brain starts to associate exercising with feeling good. A recent study showed that as little as 10min of exercise a day can do wonders for you mind and body. Once you brain has made the connection between exercise and feeling good, motivation is no longer a problem and you will find yourself wanting to add new exercises. If you are overweight and can only do 3 knee pushups, dont be discouraged, its not the number of pushups you can do that is important but the effort. For those of you who are overweight, think of it this way, you are lifting far more weight in your pushups than your lighter counterparts so its natural that you cant do as many pushups. What is important is that you make progress each week, if you did 3 knee pushups last week, try to do 3 1/2 knee pushups this week. Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts. Advanced pushup exercise for chest: backpack pushups - 830 sec
http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com This is part two of my advanced pushup series. I will be doing 5 different types of advanced pushups and then I will combine them into one heck-of-a-chest workout. The backpack pushup allows you to work out your chest much harder than with a normal pushup. This is NOT a beginners exercise, it is for advanced bodybuilders only. If you have not been lifting for at least 6 months, dont even consider doing this because you will most likely get injured. There are several other unique exercises in my advanced pushup series that I will be putting up individually also. Thanks for your patience, the advanced pushup video IS coming but it takes a long time to edit.

Advanced Pushups - The Roller - 101 sec
http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com This is part one of my advanced pushup series. I will be doing 5 different types of advanced pushups and then I will combine them into one heck-of-a-chest workout. The rolling pushup is a great exercise because it combines a fly and a pushup into one tough exercise. You can vary how hard it is by varying the angle of your elbows. In this video, I wimped out and bent my elbows to make it easier. To make it tough enough for any pro-BB, keep the arms straight. When you are all the way down with your face in the carpet, it takes an incredible squeeze from the pecs to get you back up - kind of like the iron-cross on the gymnastics rings. The grunts are not staged, this is a real bear. This is NOT a beginners exercise, it is for advanced bodybuilders only. If you have not been lifting for at least 6 months, dont even consider doing this because you will most likely get injured. I made this "rolling pushup" its own video because its a unique exercise and I wanted to be able to link to it individually. There are several other unique exercises in my advanced pushup series that I will be putting up individually also. Thanks for your patience, the advanced pushup video IS coming but it takes a long time to edit.

Home Workout: Barbell Rows for Lats - 376 sec
http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com I know I promised an advanced pushup video next, its halfway done - filming the video wiped me out with all the retakes so I couldnt finish it in one session. This video shows how to do barbell rows. Dont attempt these if you have lower back problems, stick to the pullups. While we are on the subject of pullups, these barbell rows are no substitute for pullups. When it comes to building lats, pullups are king! Keys to good form on the barbell row: 1) keep your back motionless 2) keep your abs flexed and tight to support your lower back 3) make sure to breathe, dont hold your breath 4) pull the bar to your hip, not your shoulders 5) use a slow, smooth motion - no jerking By the way, I know I screwed up twice and said "dumbbell row" where I meant "barbell row". I didnt bother re-filming becuase I figured it wouldnt cause any confusion. Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. Dumbbell shrugs for traps - 302 sec
http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com Dumbbell shrugs are my favorite trap exercise. I know this is a really simple exercise and it seems silly to make a video showing how to do it but I have gotten many requests for it. This is an easy exercise to do at home, all you need is a set of used dumbbells. Here is the way I suggest doing the dumbbell shrug. 1) Grab the dumbbells with your palms facing in 2) let the weights hang at your side 3) keep your arms straight, dont bend the elbow 4) put your shoulders back, try to squeeze your shoulder blades together 5) go up and down slowly, as far up and far down as you can 6) dont roll the shoulders!!!! Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Chest Workout: Pushups for the Complete Beginner - 375 sec
http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com In my opinion, pushups are the #1 best exercise you can do! They are simple to do and are a great upper body workout for the complete beginner or the advanced bodybuilder. You can get a complete upper body workout by combining these pushups with crunches and pullups, all of which can be done easily at home. Start by doing knee pushups. If you can do more than 20 of these then they are too easy for you and you should do full pushups. We want to start slowly to avoid injury, the first two weeks you will only do this workout once a week: do as many pushups as you can without rest (a set) rest 2 minutes repeat two more times (three sets total) If your joints and muscles feel ok, you can slowly increase the frequency and duration of your pushup workouts until you are doing pushups 3x/week for 20minutes. When you get to the point where you can do more than 20 pushups in all your sets, then its time to move on to a more advanced workout. Please see my website for some suggestions. The reason many people dont get started in bodybuilding is that it seems to complex and intimidating, thats why I recommend starting out with just pushups and with daily walking (10-30min). Its an easy program, you start feeling better immediately, and your brain starts to associate exercising with feeling good. A recent study showed that as little as 10min of exercise a day can do wonders for you mind and body. Once you brain has made the connection between exercise and feeling good, motivation is no longer a problem and you will find yourself wanting to add new exercises. home workout: dumbbell rows for lats - 108 sec
http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com/back.htm Dumbbell rows are a simple exercise you can do at home for lats, all you need is a padded chair and a dumbbell. This exercise, when done in conjunction with pullups, makes the core of a great home back workout. The key to getting maximum results from this exercise is to use perfect form, no bouncing allowed. When doing this, concentrate on keeping your torso completely motionless and only moving your arm up to your hip. Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. Killer Home Arm Workout (biceps, triceps) - 403 sec
Here is a killer arm workout you can do at home with just a set of dumbbells to help get those huge guns, I'm sore for days after doing this workout. Home workout: reverse curls exercise for a great pump - 104 sec
Reverse curls are great to finish off your arm workout because they give you a great pump - brushing your teeth is tough after doing these! This exercise is done with the palms facing down instead of facing up like in a standard barbell curl, This exercise is much more difficult to do than a barbell curl so dont use a lot of weight, start with about 35% of what you can do with the palms up. These can be done using the preacher bench as shown here or from a standing position. I suggest doing these at the end of your arm workout when your biceps are good and weak, that way, even though the bicep is stronger than the forearm they are both worked out evenly. The muscle size increase in a pump is short lived, typically much less than an hour. A pump is not a sign of permanent growth, rather an indication that you have worked out hard and that bloodflow has increased to the muscle. Forearm exercises are tough on the elbows and we don't want you getting tendonitis so only use the amount of weight that lets you use slow, controlled form. If you have any pains in your elbow region, see your doctor before doing these! Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. Home ab workout: crunch exercise for 6-pack abs - 78 sec
http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com/abs.htm Don't let the TV ads convince you to buy some bulky contraption that will gather dust in your closet, crunches are safe and effective! This video clip shows how to do crunches with varying degrees of difficulty based on your ability. Remember that ab exercises alone will not give you abs! If you have the best abs in the world they will be completely invisible if you are overweight. Aerobic exercise and proper diet are even more important than ab exercises in getting that sought after 6-pack. Form is very important in crunches, many people do them incorrectly and end up working out their neck or hips more than their abs. Use slow movements and only use the abs. Concentrate on trying to raise your shoulders straight up towards the ceiling. Don't worry about how many reps you do but focus on using perfect form. No whipping the head around or flapping your arms! This is not a sit-up either, the hips are stationary. Also important is to minimize any tension in the neck, I do this by very lightly supporting my head with my hands or the weight plate The main reason to workout abs is because strong abs stabilize your lower back and shield you from injury but as a side benefit a 6-pack looks great! Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. Home lat workout, assisted pullups exercises for beginners - 285 sec
Pullups are the all-around best exercise for lats but it takes a lot of strength to do them, a catch-22 of sorts. This video clip shows three ways you can do assisted pullups until you are strong enough to do them on your own. For more information on home workouts, please see my free website: http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com This video shows some simple mechanical apparatus for doing assisted pullups. Please make sure all the components are properly rated for at least 2X the maximum load, only quality mountaineering components should be used. If you are not competent to build such a system, please consult a mechanical engineer or professional mountaineer. The video shows the use of a belt, this is only appropriate for very light weights, for heavier weights a mountaineering harness should be used. Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Home lat workout: Pullups with added resistance - 44 sec
Video clip showing how to add resistance to make pullups more difficult. This is the key exercise for building your lats if you are doing home workouts. You can also use a weightlifting belt and chain to hold the weight while doing these pullups. Wait till you can do at least 12 reps with strict form before you start adding weight. As with any dumbbell exercise, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Don't use too much weight, if you can't do the exercise slowly then you need to go lighter. Count aloud "one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand" on the way up and the way down, if you cant do this on this exercise then you are using too much weight. The reason this exercise method maximizes your muscle growth is because it confines the motion to the muscle you are trying to work out, if your body squirms, swings, and kicks, all you are doing is taking the focus away from the muscle you are trying to exercise. Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding Exercise: incline superset - 85 sec
Here is a great chest superset you can do at home with a cheap dumbbell set. Big gyms are nice but when you can get a killer workout at home without the overhead of getting to and from the gym. In this chest superset I am going to do incline press followed immediately by an incline fly variant. Make sure and use a really light weight on the flys so you can maintain good form. As with all dumbbell exercises, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Bodybuilding Exercise: incline fly variant for chest - 44 sec
Video clip showing proper form of the incline dumbbell fly exercise for pecs. Fly type exercises have done far more for my pec development than the pushing type exercises. In doing flys, make sure that your arms do NOT go behind the plane of your body as this puts too much stress on the shoulder joint. Normally with flys, the arms are kept perpendicular to the body but in this variant I pretend I am doing cables from the lower pulley so I start with my hands pointing down to the ground and finish with them over the top of my head. This exercise is tough so use light weights and make sure to use slow, controlled form. As with any dumbbell exercise, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury.
