So here's the background story of this. I started playing piano in church like hmm since 1999 I guess. I actually started with guitar first, learned all of the chords and stuff to the point where I have to learn the scaling and fingering and I decided mehh I'm not gonna bother. And, the innocent me thought that it's easier to play music on keyboard since all the keys are laid out in front of you to hit and bang compared to guitar where you have to bend and stretch and practically destroy your finger tip at the beginning.
Well, I was wrong but thankful too that I chose that path. I've come a long way now and couldn't make a bit of it without the talent from God, and of course my share of practice time too...=).
But anyway, this is one of my favorite Christian song too, Above All. Hope y'all can enjoy it too.

My 60th Video! =)
Ok here's Sarah McLachlan's Angel, have always been a favourite song of mine because of the calmness and solemness of the song. The original was played in Eb, but I like it better in C as it's lower and becomes bass-ier.
So here's a quick update right now:
I'm actually doing a cover of Coldplay's latest hit single Viva la Vida. But boy that song was harder to record than I expected and will prolly take some time to finish.
So there I was, again, slouching around in my musician block corner lol, and I saw a new video by my fellow buddy and musician here CheoHoPark, and I was just inspired to make music again as if I was drinking Power Thirst (400 BABIES!!!).
So I actually ended up recording 4 songs in total, I'm uploading the 2nd song now and finishing up with the editing on the rest of the series.
As I've said in the beginning, this is my 60th video, boy I felt like I've come a long way to reach this step while steadily and stealthily stalking Kyle Landry in hope of finding inspirations lol. But tbh whenever I'm watching his videos it makes me feel like a noob haha, coz I'm like waaaaaayy down here and he's wayyyyyy up there.
So I wanna thank all of you again that's been sticking around and supporting me all this time. I know I'm no Kyle Landry and I never intended to be one, I got my own style and I'm pushing myself all the time to learn new stuff and produce better video all the time, and I can't do all of those without y'all's support.

I thought this song really deserves a recognition because, it's the song that probably skyrocketed me in the youtubesphere (well not that I'm that famous anyway), but still my 1st sakurairo piano video is currently my most viewed video.
As you know in the first video I did couple "tricks" and played the song in a one-man style. It was cool and all (maybe), but I thought I really lacked in the quality and emotion department there. So I thought I should compensate that with this video.
What's special about this video for me was that I played what I call the complete version. It has all the original lyrics from the debut on MY KEYS 2006 including the inspiring part of the song: Keep on dreaming all your life, and yet it has the strings arrangement of the studio version sans the drums.
So here you go, this is a tribute to Angela Aki. And lastly, if you Angie, happened to watch this video, I just want you to know how grateful I am to ever experienced your passion in music, you're such an inspiration to me =).
All of her footage was taken from various videos that I've collected all this time, copyright belongs to all respective studios.

Here's Robbie Williams' Eternity, personally the best song that he's done, lyric wise and melody wise. =)
The original song was sung in Bb, but for some reason I've been playing it on A major and am too lazy right now to learn it on Bb, and plus it's easier to sing in this key too =). Some ppl might argue that I'm using the wrong chords on the prechorus line, but meh, it sounded ok I guess.
I'm not actually sure why I chose to do this song, I guess I'm kinda inspired by some events that just happened recently in my life and kinda reminded me of this song, which also brought back some memory, although not necessarily happy ones, from my past...
But anyway, I guess it's a good thing too that I play something other than Jpop, I might actually be playing couple other songs that's not from Angela Aki for awhile hehe.

Firstly I'm gonna dedicate this video to my friend watercolor for inspiring me again with his music.
This is my piano version of Hirai Ken's new song called Shashin, which literally means photo, and you can find it on his latest hit album Fakin'Pop.
So far this is his only song that can rival Utsukushii Hito's solemn-ness for me. I thought I wanted to do a full string version, but I..am..lazy...haha, but I thought it came out pretty good too.

Testing up the piano again.
I don't know how to name this video, but I guess practice is a better word for the title. But I guess it's also an improv at some point too, but mind you that I didn't prepare at all when I did this so there was quite a lot of mistakes and redundancy I guess, and of course you don't wanna compare me to other FF maestros out there too, they're playing by sheet and I'm by ear, so there's gotta be a huge gap in terms of quality and standards here.
Played my own interpretation of Melodies of life, an unsuccessful version of Final Fantasy Series, a weird version of Eyes on me, a kinda too-mellow version of 1000 Words, and some other rubbish stuffs as I was running out of idea hehe.

So it's that time of the year again, and I think this is a good time to test out the piano too.
I was playing on G major this time, switched to Em at some point and for some reason became a lil bit Winter Sonata-ish hehe.
I personally thought it was kinda on the dull side, and kinda boring after a while, but meh, I thought there are some "phrases" that's pretty good but not quite cohesive as whole piece.
So, just relax and enjoy the melodies =). Thanks.

Anyway, here is Angela's latest hit - Tegami, which was used for NHK's middle school choir competition. I used the choir version which was played in key of C instead of the Ab key that she used for the hikigatari.
I wasn't really planning to release this video that's why a lot of parts sounds really raw and unpolished, and if you notice the tempo pattern changed during the bridge coz I lost my focus =). The main purpose of this video is using my new digital piano - Roland RD-300GX. If you're looking for a stage piano with great features at reasonable price, you can never go wrong with this RD-300GX.
Anyway, I hope it's still enjoyable and let me know what you think about the sound, you know, if it's better than my old keyboard or something (which I hope does sound better than the keyboard).

1st of all, today's my birthday! =)
Ok, I wanna call this video a draft version of what I have in mind for the full version.
So let's address the flaws here:
-Obviously I played some wrong notes here and there, and I do notice that the playing gets sloppier as it progress =p, my bad ppl, hence the draft version.
-Need to think of a good strings arrangement, or maybe perhaps not considering lots of ppl actually hoped that the full studio version will also be a piano version, let me know what you think about it.
-I do notice that the view is slunted to the right, it was actually positioned in the center but I probably have moved it bit by bit as I took more cuts for the video.
OK I guess that's all I have in mind about it, I'm excited about this song. I thought it's a very dramatic and I do, do, hope that if it gets released as the new single, it will blow ppl's mind and chart nicely on the oricon chart.
Lastly, I will dedicate this song to frienger2007 ( http://www.youtube.com/user/frienger2007 ) for uploading the song to the public, and also to old acquaintances prissi, chrono_cross, and all of Angie fans out there.

This is how the original video's supposed to sound although I realized I reversed the LR channel coz the hi strings are on R channel and lo strings on the L while the usual concerto arrangement is the other way around.
And as you realized the stereo sound comes in expense of the video quality. I need to dig deeper through the software to figure out how to keep the frame rate in 30fps, but yeah for now this is good enough for me.

This is what happened when I'm bored yet don't wanna do any hard project =D, time to play some "fun" stuffs.
Non-Angela fans might not recognize this song, but since I figure that at least 50% of my subcribers should be Angie's fans, so that'll translate roughly to about 250 ppl that should know the song, and I don't care whether you like it or not hehe =p.
TBH I wasn't a big fan of this song either, but I was converted after listening to her "Piano Live ONE" concert recently.
Ok here's the deal, since it's only a piano accompaniment, so why don't you guys showcase your talent now? I don't really require you to do a special recording coz I don't have the necessary skill and time to do editing and stuffs, but just upload it to youtube and post it to this video as a video response, and of course don't forget to credit me as the pianist =D.
And you might wanna ask, what makes me think that ppl would wanna respond to this? Honestly I'm afraid that nobody's gonna respond, but meh so be it. If you do response, great and thx, if you're not that's fine too, let's just have fun with this little project and showcase our talent =).
Ok, with that said let's talk about other stuffs here. After playing this song I realized that I really really need to practice on my fingering and stuffs, so please don't kill me on the fingering XD. And I do notice that I played slightly faster around 0:36ish because apparently someone chose to give me a call when I was recording, so basically what happened was I was trying to maintain my own tempo while listening to my glaring ringtone on Tashika ni XD, but other than that I think I did pretty ok with the tempo.
No music sheet as usual as I'm playing by ear.
