Alot of you have asked about how I got started in this business, who I'm working with, If I write my own songs, etc, So I thought that I'd post up this EPK on my page to give you guys a better insight into my life.
Coming to california has been a dream come true in so many ways however this Business has not been an easy one to break into. I've been at this game for a very long time now, but for some reason the stars haven't aligned perfectly as of yet.
I wanted to create my first Vlog and talk about my situation and what's been going on in my career and my struggles to break in, but at the same point in time I didn't want to rant to everyone about my frustrations but rather write down my thoughts and use you guys as my Diary.
I've heard everything from:
"Wow Lisa, you're voice is Amazing and your songs are really good but do they fit radio format?"
"Lisa, You're great, but I think you should be more Gansta, Let's bring the Hip-Hop out of you."
"Lisa Honestly, Your songs might be too good for Radio right now, Is there any way we could Dumb them down"
"Lisa , This song "I Remember When" is a F***** Smash. Just amazing.
And with that last Quote coming from the mouth of a President at a Major label, you'd think they'd make a move wouldn't you? Yeah, but Noooo. Everyone to date has been in limbo and watching the fields from a distance without giving a clear concise answer just incase they'd be known as "The ones who passed" or "took a chance and failed" So they Sit and wait.
All of these Compliments and Shut downs at the same time leave me questioning how it's possible for anyone to succeed without giving in to the requests of these guys in suits (changing my musical style) and losing yourself in the process.
Politics take precident over everything and everyone is afraid to make a move too soon without guarantee of success until you shove it in their face by creating the groundswell on your own.
So as I sit contemplating my next move, one thing I hold certain is that I will no longer allow myself to be held back by indecisiveness.
This coming year 2008, It's on!!!
