Here's another collaboration with "Ulf Pettersson". The top notch Swedish musician. This one is called "I wanna see". I originally wrote this song as a personal joke, but when Ulf heard it he fell in love with it, and asked me if he could redo the music for it. I accepted of course, and this is what he came up with. I think it sounds better than the original version I came up with.
Once again, this song does not appear on my album "Sight Or Sound".
I would love to do more work with Ulf in the future, because I really respect the work he has done so far. He is very much a fan of my material, but we are both quite busy at the moment. I've been slaving away with my side of music, and Ulf is currently writing music for film and television. So you may have heard some of his stuff without even knowing it :)

Another original song.
This is the first of two collaborations with an extremely talented Swedish musician called "Ulf Pettersson". He's
been in the music biz for a good few years now, and is currently a part of a Swedish band called "Galleon". This
song is called "Swings and roundabouts". Ulf has written many instrumentals, and this was originally one of those.
When I first heard it, I imagined vocals over the top, so I set to work on it, and this is the result. Again, this
is not on the "Sight Or Sound" album.

Song number 3 from the original batch. This one is also a few years old, and it's called "She freaks". This one has a bit of cult status among my friends, and it has been playlisted on a number of internet radio stations. It features the guitar playing of my good friend "Steve Morgan". The song is about two people in a relationship. One is calm and the other is a boiling cauldron. I played the calm part with my voice, and I asked Steve to play the guitar like an angry woman. I'm sure some people can identify with this. If you're a calm woman with a raging partner then just change the words from "She" to "He" if you sing along to it :)
This was not selected for the "Sight Or Sound" album. I think it's a pretty good song, but I had to be reasonable with the amount of tracks. The album has 15.

This is the first of a string of original songs. This selection of songs did not make the cut for my album "Sight Or Sound" for some reason or other. Production may have been lacking, it may have been a weak song, or it was just considered not as good as those selected for the album. Other reasons may apply.

When I made the video, I thought about those times when people sing around the house with a hairbrush, or anything they can place their hands on as a microphone. So I took that a bit further. It's been a very eventful year. With three weddings and two funerals. The two funerals were my Grandmother, and my Father.
I thought I'd do some covers of his favourite songs, and this is the first of those. Kingston town. A UB40 classic. A song that would get him up dancing without doubt.
I've just done a slideshow of some photographs from my vast collection.
My father had a very illustrious life, and loved his drink. Ultimately, it was the drink that sealed his fate.

From their excellent new album of the same name.
The vocal effects were a bit different to the last one. In the verses I used a slightly deeper plate reverb, and in the choruses I increased that reverb quite a bit, and added a chorus effect. I've also boosted the vocal presence more in the verses, for that more intimate sound :)
As before, I've tried to emulate the effects in the original, but made some alterations to suit my own voice.

Doing these cover versions is really helping with my production skills. I've used a backing track for this one. I've been trying to concentrate on vocal reproduction, effects and filters etc. On this one there is two vocal tracks. The first vocal track is compressed and uses a plate reverb. I tried to get the settings close to that in the original. The second track is the vocals at the end of the song. They are uncompressed, and have a fraction of reverb to give them some atmosphere.

Well I'm over half way through the production of my first independant Album, which will be going on sale digitally. Hopefully in July.
I stopped for a break, and decided to cover a song that was requested quite a while ago. It's "No surprises" by "Radiohead".
The video is quite a simple one. Just me sitting in half shadow. It's been said that I have a very expressive face, so I decided to do a video where I was thinking about several different memories, which provoke different emotional responses. I wanted to keep it subtle, so you could pick up the different emotions with observation.
The video is a bit like the original video, but without the water. Lol :)

Yippee I'm celebrating one year on Youtube. The best way for me to do that is to upload a new original song.
