Liu Fang plays "mei hua san nong" (Three variation of plum blossom) on guzheng and "Ba Wang xie Jia" on pipa, with introduction by Lorraine Chalifoux of Radio-Canada, extracted from a documentary of CBC TV (BravoCanada).
Note that Ms Chalifoux compares Chinese traditional classical music with western classical music such as Bach, Mozart and Beethoven: "Just like the western classical music that can touch the hearts of Chinese people, so the music Liu Fang interprets can equally touch the heart of Quebecoises".

Guzheng is known as Chinese "zither" or harp, has over 2000 years of well-documented history.
The title of this piece beautifully interpreted by Liu Fang is called
"The autumn moon in the palace of a Han emperor" (Hangong Qiuyue 漢宮秋月), traditional piece from the Chinese classical repertoire, recorded live at Liu Fang's solo recital in the Pierre-mercurre Hall, Centre Pierre-Peladou, Montreal, on march 27, 2003.

This beautiful piece sounds like Guqin music (古琴), Chinese zither with 7 strings. In fact it is performed on Guzheng (Chinese harp with 21 strings) by Liu Fang who is best known as the virtuoso of the pipa (Chinese lute). Very beautiful and romantic interpretation - emotional and pure. It is upon listening to this piece (彝族舞曲) that I have become big fan of Liu Fang's. The original music was composed by Wang Huiran (王惠然)in the early 60s. The melody was used by an Chinese pop group so taht it became known to many people (including myself) as a pop song called "Nine hundred ninty nine roses". Later on I discovered that it is a pipa solo music. I love Liu Fang's interpretation. I cannot find a video of her playing, just MP3 sample in http://www.philmultic.com/liufang/MP3/yidance.html
