| Screening in 30+ cities on Valentines Day - 328 sec
This is a video invitation we made getting the word out about our film playing in 31 cities in the US on valentines day 2007. We also talk about how we were working on our DVD authoring at the time as well as how we were going to be doing a live Q&A from our hotel in Berlin where we were traveling to for a film festival. The hope was to pipe us into all of the theaters, but in reality we only got piped into one theater which was IFC center in new york. But that worked like a charm. People text messaged their quesitons to a twitter group, that way they didn't need to be members of twitter, and then we saw those questions on our website pop up, and the entire audience also so those questions on the projection screen as well, and the audience of course saw us in a skype window on the projection. So it's pretty weird to watch a movie about these two peoples lives and then video conference them in and ask them more quesitons about their lives. A total trip. But for us it seemed fairly normal, just like an interview for a publication or something. And actually, way more relaxed and on point then most Q&A's, we filmed what we said into our camera as well, and maybe we'll post it online some day.

Our film was the first filmmaker authorized screening of a feature film in second life. It went down in January of 2007. This is the video invitation we created to get the word out before the screening. We had fun making the video and thinking about how second life is all about an ideal life. In the end we are glad we opened our film in New York City because it got us reviewed in the NY times and Village Voice, but man, that was a ton of work, not sure if we'd do it again, it's better to just be making films and posting them on YouTube then to have to deal with all that.

This was a video made to invite people to the second screening we did for our Thursdays in Septmeber DIY release in 6 cities. We also included one of the short films called "High Tide" by Lori Samsel who has since went on to become an animator/filmmaker thats been featured on the Homepage of YouTube. Also there is a little documentary in this video about finding a cat and falling in love only to have our hearts broken. How many times is life going to do this to us? And why is releasing our film to the world all on our shoulders, why isn't there an infrastructure for this kind of a project????

The concept is simple, if enough people in a city want to see a film, you book it on an off night and make the theater way more money then they would other wise make that night. So we sent out a video invitation to our film's screenings at the undiscovered gems schowcase back in June of 2006. We ended up winning that showcase! But didn't get the money we talk about in this video. Yes, sad, we'll explain the corruption in that in a later video. But this is an interesting text book example of creating an online fanbase for a film that then hightens the experience of the film. I kid you not, literally we have gotten into Film School Text books where professors site this video as an example of the power of digital media and how it integrates into filmmaking. We look at it all as creating an interactive experience that gets experienced in various points and to various degrees depending on how interested someone is in the whole project.
