STARQuest Terrain Demo - 437 sec
This StarQUEST (SQ) Terrain Demo shows our 3D prototype engine able to handle nearly any sized planet on a scale realistic to actual planets. What's also unique is that the transition times over the planet and switching from one planet to another are near instantaneous. The engine is designed in such a way where it can produce fairly high-resolution terrain yet still experience minimal delays no matter how large the planet is, limited only by disk space. The video capture was performed in low-res with Mr. Captor. Due to the HW limitations the video doesn't reflect the true quality of the engines output. STARQuest is a prototype for a massively multi-player game on a scale unlike any other. It's not multi-player game of the masses like virtually all current MMOPG's but perhaps one of the first ever to give purpose to multi-player gaming on a whole new scale with 10's of thousands of players affecting and influencing the world and universe within the game and therefore everyone playing the game. It's unparalleled in scope and vision and hopefully one day will revolutionize gaming as we know it. DISCLAIMER I am in no way affiliated with "Starquest Online". The game concept is actually one I had over 15 years ago, but the technology wasn't ready yet. The video you are commenting on was actually created in 2003. Originally it was a Star Wars theme, and I tried to contact LucasArts to gauge their interest but there wasn't any. This was long before Star Wars Galaxies or WOW. Since there wasn't interest I decided to prototype it myself and started calling it STARQuest. Time has been my biggest adversary, not to mention I can't expect to compete with the masses of game developers working on other projects. I tried to look for a team to work with me, but couldn't build enough interest. In the future I'm considering a name change possibly to "CORPS" or "The CORPS" either of which could have a military inclination but can also be representative for "Corporation". In many ways I see the management hierarchy and ecosystem of my concept resembling a corporation, but without all the boring stuff of real life.

STARQuest Player scenario - 362 sec
This STARQuest (SQ) Demo shows a prototype 3D gaming engine enacting a sample scenario that could play out amongst players. Unlike other MMOPG's where most of the missions are computer based against NPC's, in SQ virtually everyone is a real player and missions are developed by the players in game. In this enactment there are two warring factions, and it starts out with one faction having just captured an enemy spy and preparing for interrogation. The video capture was performed in low-res using the S-Video out of the video card. Due to the HW limitations the video doesn't reflect the true quality of the engines output. STARQuest Planet/Space/Moon Demo - 310 sec
The STARQuest Planet/Space/Moon Demo shows a prototype 3D gaming engine effortlessly transitioning from ground to space and between planet and moon.
