What is this creature? Part 2 - 73 sec
Part 2 of the unknown creature visiting my bird feeder late at night. See part 1 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuOaXRrezWw&feature=user Here's the original description: The bird feeder is three stories up the side of a brick building. Not easy to climb. After two AM I will sometimes see this little creature eating the bird food. The creature's body is about 5 inches (13 centimeters), and his tail is a bit longer than that. He has very large eyes, and the tail is extremely flat with very short hair. He looks a little, and acts a lot like a squirrel, but his tail is more like a tiny beaver's tail than a squirrel's bushy tail. I had no idea what this little creature was. Then I put up this YouTube video, and after an hour I got an e-mail with a pretty good answer. Anyone else got a guess? Music by Starseed - http://www.starseedmusic.net

Temporarily Headless Creature - 93 sec
I looked out my window one day, and there he was, temporarily headless. He remained in the temporarily headless state for about an hour. It's a little hard for me to tell what he is because he's so puffed up to brace against the cold that he doesn't look like he would on a warm day. So far the guesses are: Common Redpoll Purple Finch Pine Grosbeak Anyone else have an idea? Music by Starseed: "Shakti Ananda" from the CD "Particle and Wave" http://www.starseedmusic.net

Otto, a friendly wild jay - 172 sec
Otto and his son Hansi, friendly wild blue jays (actually scrub jays), visit with Marlis, Bastian, Claudia Susanna and Rasa. Otto will often be waiting for us in the morning, sitting on the back of a chair on the balcony, looking through the large glass windows to see if we are awake yet. If we let him, he would spend the whole day taking almonds from us and hopping off to bury them in the woods. I'm sure a lot of Otto's almonds are sniffed out by the local squirrels, jack rabbits, raccoons, possums, skunks, ground hogs, mice and deer. Otto doesn't seem to care. I wonder if he even knows where all his almonds are hidden. Only rarely will we see him eating one. He's just very dedicated to keeping his forest stocked with almonds! Nourishment for the Soul - Marlis Jermutus - 549 sec
Trans-Expressionist artist Marlis Jermutus - in her own words. ". . . I made the experience over all the years now, that people when they let go of their expectation, you know, they want to see a tree, or what is going on on the planet, they want to see that in red and black and blood, so when they let go of their verhaltnis muster, "conditions" we'll say, "see" conditions, to see in a certain way (instead of) just let go and let the consciousness journey through the painting, I see then the difference in their faces when they get connected to the painting . . ." WAIT!!!!!! READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING: The bird feeder is three stories up the side of a brick building. Not easy to climb. Bat on the Balcony - a close up - 76 sec
This guy was sleeping upsidedown in a stairwell in the house. I took him out onto the balcony and built a little tent for him so he could stay comfortable outside. Over the pine cone and the Buddha's knee I draped a small cloth that put the little guy in the shade on a very hot day. Some hours later, just as the sun was setting, he crawled out of the tent and flew away. Music by Starseed - http://www.starseedmusic.net

Robert Anton Wilson - Dove Sta Memora - 19 sec
In January of 2006 I was trying out the video on my new digital camera. I said to Bob, "Say something memorable." As was typical of Bob's conversation, in one lucid stream he began with his ever present memory of Arlen, and then made the free flowing connections to one of his favorite writers and then to one of his favorite fictional characters. "Nothing matters save the quality of the affection. Dove Sta Memora. That's from Pound's Pisan Cantos, by way of Cavalcanti, on whom Dr. Hannibal Lecter happens to be an expert, by the way. A weird coincidence, isn't it." More info at: http://www.pelorian.com/raw.html

Bat in my office - 135 sec
On occasion a bat will come in the house and fly endlessly - searching for a way out to his thousand course insect dinner flying outside in the night air. Sometimes they're not clever enough to find the window and I'll try to catch the guy and gently put him out the window. Sometimes they find the window!
