| Snooker World Championship 2008 - Trophy Presentation - 633 sec Ronnie O'Sullivan declared that winning the 888.com World Snooker Championship was his greatest buzz in snooker, and hopes that he can add to his tally of three Crucible crowns.
The Rocket completed an 18-8 defeat of Ali Carter tonight to become only the third player -- after Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry -- to lift the trophy aloft three times at the Crucible.
"It's a real buzz to win it. There is no bigger tournament, this is our pinnacle, it's our greatest stage," said the 32-year-old from Chigwell. "I've got three now and I would like to win more. I wouldn't like to put a number on it because that would be very foolish of me. There are a lot of hungry players out who are also very eager to lift this trophy. Hendry has won seven, Davis has won six, so I'm half way to that total - but I'm not young.
"It's almost a feeling of relief because I was at unease with myself out there in the final, and it was just a case of digging in. I did feel great in the first three frames of the final and the last two frames. I think everybody had expectations of me just blowing Ali away after I won my semi final so well.
"Ali got to the final on merit. I used to practise with him, and you get to know each others' game inside out, and know what they are capable of. So it can be harder to play someone you know, rather than someone you have no history of.
"I knew I would play well in patches, so it was a case of being patient and concentrating on my own performance and not looking at the scoreboard. If Ali could have got closer I'm sure I would have been able to respond, but at the end of the day it was a professional performance, because a job needed to be done, and I did it."
Carter, who was playing in his first ranking final, said: "I didn't play particularly well. I'm disappointed with my own performance but I was really tired. It was a bit of a struggle for both of us but his game is so strong, even when he's struggling.
"I didn't have anything left in the tank after a tough game against Joe Perry. I haven't had a night off or a day off and that probably took it out of me. Next year, there's always next year. At this moment in time I don't feel as if I've achieved what I wanted to do, the only way I would have done that would be to win it. Getting to the final is a great result and I'll reflect on it in a couple of weeks and be pleased with what I've done.
"I'm in the top eight in the world so next year it makes it a little easier. Hopefully I can press on and go one better next time."
O'Sullivan, 32, becomes the first player ever to hold the official No 1 ranking on three separate occasions, having previously topped the list in 2002/03 and from 2004 to 2006. The Crucible crowd erupted as O'Sullivan potted the final ball of his magical maximum, the seventh made at the Crucible and O'Sullivan's third - he is the only player to make more than one at Sheffield.
The Rocket has over-taken Stephen Hendry as snooker's maximum man, having surpassed the Scot's record of eight. Chigwell's 32-year-old O'Sullivan has now made three this season, following 147s in the Northern Ireland Trophy and one in the deciding frame of his Maplin UK Championship semi-final against Mark Selby.
This one came in the last frame of a 13-7 defeat of Williams and put him through to the quarter-finals to face Liang Wenbo or Joe Swail. The match looked in the balance going into the concluding session at 9-7, but world No 5 O'Sullivan produced an incredible display of break-building to win the four frames he needed within 44 minutes.
Runs of 71, 60 and 100 put him 12-7 ahead, then he split the reds early in the next frame, clearly setting about a maximum from the early stages. He was never out of position, playing a superb shot on the 13th black to dislodge one awkward red from the pink, then dished up easily.
Stephen Maguire and Neil Robertson stopped their match on the adjacent table in the closing stages of the break, then joined Williams in congratulating O'Sullivan, who will collect a £157,000 jackpot providing the 147 is not equalled.
It's the 62nd 147 in snooker history and sixth of the season - three for O'Sullivan plus one each for Jamie Burnett, Tom Ford and Stephen Maguire.
O'Sullivan was in majestic form throughout the match against Welshman Williams, also a two-times world champion, making four centuries and seven more breaks over 50.
The result means that Williams is out of the top 16 after 12 years among the elite, though he looks to be safely in the top 32 for next season.

The Glaswegian held his nerve to clinch a dramatic 6-5 victory over Welshman Day, winning the match on the blue in a final-frame decider.
But it was in the second frame that the Scot wrote his name into the record books with the first-ever clearance in a ranking event in Asia.
He now faces Shaun Murphy after the Englishman's 6-3 win over Mark Selby.
It was not plain sailing for Murphy, who battled back from 3-2 behind to beat compatriot and this season's Masters and Welsh Open winner Selby at the Beijing Sports Gymnasium.
Selby pocketed breaks of 54, 95 and 132 for a 3-2 lead, but saw Rotherham professional Murphy progress to the final thanks to breaks of 64, 73 and 77.
"I'm very pleased to win and to be in the final," said Murphy. "Now I've got the chance to win a trophy.
"I showed a lot of patience tonight. Mark is a fantastic player but I decided to hang back and wait for him to make the mistakes."
A disappointed Selby reflected: "I struggled throughout the match, apart from one frame. Shaun wasn't brilliant either but he deserved to win."
Murphy may have to up his game against Maguire, whose maximum was the second of his career - the first coming in the Scottish Open in 2000.
His 147, the 38th in a ranking event and the fifth of the season, will earn him an additional £22,000 in prize money if it is not matched.
Maguire, who fought back from 4-2 down to beat Day, has now secured his passage to three ranking-event finals this season, including the Maplin UK Championship.
"It was a good match to be involved in," he said. "It was obviously a bit tense at the end, so it was good to get over the line.
"It was brilliant to get a 147. Apart from winning tournaments it is the best feeling ever. They don't come along very often, so I'll have to savour this moment for as long as possible."
Shanghai Masters champion Day was understandably annoyed having come within a frame of reaching back-to-back finals in China.
He admitted: "We both had a run of a few frames but I had a chance to clear up at the end so I'm a little disappointed, especially as I played quite well." The break came in the second frame of Maguire against Ryan Day. Day made a mistake in the opening shot to spread the red balls perfectly. Maguire took the chance to piked them up, taking all 15 with blacks to score the second 147 of his career.
"It was a good match to be involved in and it was obviously a bit tense at the end. It was good to get over the line," admitted Maguire.
"It's brilliant, apart from winning tournaments it is the best feeling ever. They don't come along very often and potting the last black was just great," added Maguire.
Maguire then became the first player to make an official maximum in an Asian ranking event.
Maguire made his first 147 in the qualifying rounds of the 2000 Scottish Open and his second 147 was the 61st in snooker history, 38th in a ranking event, and the fifth of the season after one apiece for Jamie Burnett and Tom Ford and two for Ronnie O'Sullivan. "This is a great venue and a great tournament but my snooker tonight was not great, it was so poor. I played 16 poor frames but everyone now will be talking about the 147 so I feel like I've cheated, or taken a short cut. I'd rather have won 9-3, playing solid and not making any unforced errors.
"The first black in the 147 was a blind shot but it wasn't as hard as it looked. It was 8-8 and I felt like I wanted to get something out of the game, to go out in a blaze of glory. Once I got to 40 I decided to go for it, and I felt a few butterflies which was good.
"It's nice to get to eight 147s, I'd like to get to double figures, maybe get one at the Masters and at Sheffield and make four this season.
"Mark had the upper hand for most of the match, he's a tough competitor, you don't get to a world final otherwise. At 6-3 I was losing it, really struggling. There was no fluency, no power or finesse in my shots. I was a foot out on some of my positional shots."
As for the match with Maguire, O'Sullivan added: "Stephen said in an interview that he's been watching me and noticed I'm giving away chances. He's right, and only a few people would recognise that. I've been playing quickly and scoring ok, which has camouflaged the fact that I'm making a lot of mistakes. The bookmakers will make me favourite for tomorrow but I'd make Stephen favourite. If I play like I did today I'll get beaten because Stephen is a winner."
Selby said: "It was a brilliant end to the match. I've had a good week and I wouldn't change anything. At 7-5 I had a good chance in the balls and after that it seemed to change."

The maximum came in the fifth frame of his 5-2 defeat of Ali Carter at the Waterfront Hall and is worth a £20,000 bonus plus £2,000 for the top break if it's not equalled this week.
But perhaps more remarkably, O'Sullivan made five centuries - the first time that has ever been achieved in a ranking event best-of-nine match.
Four players had previously made four centuries in a best-of-nine: Peter Ebdon, Tom Ford, Stephen Hendry and Shaun Murphy.
He warmed up with 108, 122 and 107 in taking a 3-1 lead before the magical maximum came. Carter pulled one frame back then O'Sullivan closed with a 129 total clearance to book a quarter-final place against Fergal O'Brien or Barry Hawkins.
For the 147, O'Sullivan potted 15 reds with blacks and looked perfect on the colours, even playing the yellow left-handed, until he played a loose positional shot on the green to leave the cue ball on the side cushion.
But he thumped in the brown and added blue, pink and black to complete his first maximum since the 2003 World Championship. With seven to his name, he is now just one behind Stephen Hendry's record of eight.
It's the 59th 147 in professional snooker history, the 36th in a ranking event, the 30th on television and the third of the season after those from Jamie Burnett and Tom Ford.
"I was going for the maximum early in the break," said two-times World Champion O'Sullivan. "Once I got down to the last red there was a lot of pressure because you don't want to get so far and then miss.
"I got a bounce off the cushion on the green and ran about two feet further than I wanted to. The brown was very tough but I hit it sweet. After that I kept position pretty well. It's nice to make a maximum because I've not had one for ages."
However, O'Sullivan refused to accept adulation for his achievements. "I'm playing rubbish," he added. "I just got lucky today and Ali made it easy for me by missing a few balls. I can't face practising because I'm playing so badly."
