Want a great SHMUP for the PSone? Well look no further than Thunder Force 5. This horizontally side scrolling horizontal space ship shooter is from Tecnosoft (aka Tecno Soft, Techno Soft) and redifines awesome SHMUPS on the PS1 by packing it full of amazing space ships, laser beams, end bosses, weapons, power ups and crazy maniac shooter action. It was originally released in 1997 on the Sega Saturn and then sent over to the original Playstation 1 in 1998. SHMUPS fans rejoice, rumor has it that a Thunder Force 6 is in the works and due to be released on the PS2 in Japan. Yeah well that's super and all but I'd like to see Thunder Force VI over here in the USA please. There's still some of in this country who like 2D shooters and want Thunderforce games released every week now!!! If you liked the original Thunder Force 2, Thunder Force 3 and Lightening Force on the Sega Genesis (aka Mega Drive Megadrive MD) then you'll totally love TF5! Thunder Force II was certainly a bit weaker in some respects, Thunder Force III was somewhat easier and Thunder Force IV 4 was pretty on par (Lightning Force!) in my opinion. We hope that TF6 is available in North America and Europe and that new Thunderforce games come out for the PS3 Playstation 3 video game console, Xbox 360 or XBLA Live Arcade or even the Sega Genesis.... And Atari 7800. Let us raise our beers high and toast Technosoft and the upcoming 2008 or 2009 release of Thunder Force 6 in countries other than just Japan! The 1970's were a great time for disaster movies like Earthquake, Poseidon Adventure, The Swarm, Airport and The Towering Inferno. This game lets you live out the dream of being the hero in a 70's action film by playing as a fireman (played by Steve McQueen in the movie) and saving innocent civilians in a burning skyscraper. Towering inferno was released in the early 80's and is an excellent arcade style retrol old school game on the Atari 2600 console. The gameplay is fast and enjoyable, required skill and a bit of chance. It has flames and helicopters and 9 buildings to save people from. CGRHD highly recommends Towering Inferno! The 1974 movie starring Steve McQueen, Paul Newman and Robert Vaughn, Fred Astaire and Robert Wagner was awesome too. The designers of modern movie themed games and ports on the PS3 and Xbox 360 can learn a lot from TI, because this game is dope. It ain't Backdraft, this is TOWERING INFERNO!!! Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of DEATH DUEL for the 16 bit Sega Genesis Mega Drive video game console. This is an interesting MD game and claims to not be a "standard shooter". It certainly is not a first person shooter, or even the trendy third person shooter. It's more like an Atari game juiced up for the Megadrive with simple gameplay, easy to learn controls and fancy, funky fresh rap style hip hop beats. Death Duel is a game where you face off against other alien and robotic opponents in duels to the death. This is a fairly obscure game on the 16-bit Genesis but a very fun and entertaining one. Fight your opponents with an arsenal of weapons including machine guns, lasers, spinners, grenades, land mines, missiles and homing rockets. Win money by destroying the life forms on various planets. Spend the money on guns. Hooray for Death Duel, a very bizarre yet strangely addictive and enjoyable game. I would not expect to see a remake of this on PS3 Playstation 3, PS2, Wii or Xbox 360 Live Arcade XBLA any time soon. I think this game has been sadly lost to history. This is the first and best review of Red Faction to feature a parody of the upcoming RedFaction game on the PS3 and Xbox 360 called Going Green Faction. The parody is funny because I felt like getting that keyword in here, funny that is. Ha ha. Red Faction is one of the best first person shooters on the PS2 and is regarded as one of the best of the shooter genre. FPS FTW as you kids say. You play as parker and slaughter Ultor without mercy, the evil big corporation keeping the miners on Mars down. Red Faction plays a lot like Total Recall in that it takes place on Mars, features oppressed miners and has lots of shooting and explosions. Rumor has it that there is a new Red Faction being released sometime in 2008 or 2009 by Volition and THQ called Red Faction 3 Guerrilla or something along those lines. Will it be on PS3, Xbox 360 and Atari 7800? Will it have multiplayer, footage scenes and animations, gamer points, 3d environments, geo mod technology, next gen things like the word next gen and HD visuals girls in bikinis? Whatever, I just want the RAIL GUN back and the ability to go through Ultor and raise hell. This is a horizontally scrolling science fiction arcade style SHMUP like Einhander or Thunder Force. As far as SHMUPS go it is not the hardest, but it is very fun with great music and gameplay. You are like a little mini transformer being piloted by an anime girl with blue hair and a pink bodysuit just like the princess from Voltron. So which is better? In this versus console battle to the death these two juggernauts from different video gaming eras compete for the world championship of great video game consoles... right. What is incredible is that in the history of video games, the Atari 2600 was a landmark system that debuted in 1977. The PS2 was released to North America in October of 2000. Both were expensive when they came out, were huge and bulky and had only a few games available. But over time they developed a huge fan following that enjoyed their gameplay and graphics, and had literally thousands of games released for each system. Both the 2600 and Playstation 2 had smaller, more compact models released and both are more affordable today for collectors. Sadly there is no wood grained heavy sixer PS2. You pilot Yars around in space and fight the evil, deceptive and ill tempered Quitile. Can you destroy the Zorlon cannon before it destroys you? Hide in the neutral zone, dodge the curser of doom and kick ass at this amazing retro old school classic arcade style video game. The gameplay is rock solid, the storyline is fantastic and the footage of this game will make you want to run out and add this Atari cartridge to your collection. Will we ever see an Atari movie about Yars' Revenge? It would be the best science fiction movie ever made and should be an upcoming film with a great trailer due to be released sometime in the near future. Assuming it was made well of course. Yars' Revenge is a classic and you should own it, period. Will there ever be a remake of this game? Will it be remade in HDTV graphics for Xbox Live Arcade on the 360 XBLA? Will Yars' Revenge come out on the PS2 Playstation 3 console? How about the Wii or Wii Fit, you could run around on the Wii Fit as a Yar vs. the Quotile. If you like scary action adventure games with violence, pure evil, dungeons, axes, guns and beheadings, NMC2 for the DC is just your cup of herbal tea. This game which was originally on the PS1 Playstation video game system was ported (aka shoveled) over to the Dreamcast in 2000. It feaures Rob Zombie music (lead singer from the legendary White Zombie of course) and allows the player to hack and slash as many monsters and corpses as you can shake a lamb's tail at. Run around basements, theaters and ill kept houses looking the things to break and explode and wooo weeeee! Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. The Atari was released in 1977, Actionauts was released in 2008 by its designer and programmer, Rob Fulop. In fact it is technically called Rob Fulop's Actionauts. The goal of the game is to guide a robot through various mazes to find a block of cheese! Sounds cheesy, hooray! It is fantastic to see a brand new game released on the Atari (even if it was designed in 1984) and come in such a nice box with great artwork. This is an extremely limited edition game and mine is # 191 out of 250 sold to the general public (shmucks like us!) For the Atari technical crowd out there, this game was played on the Atari 7800 Prosystem for the review and captured on good-old school VHS. Actionauts will be hard to find but for those of you who like old fashioned old school retro arcade style gaming this review should demonstrate an awesome soon to be classic video game that you may enjoy. Rob Fulop also programmed and designed other games that we've reviewed here including Demon Attack (one of the first HD series reviews), Cosmic Ark, Night Driver and Missile Command. Rob Fulop also designed the popular Sewer Shark available on the Sega CD. Will we ever see Actionauts on the PS3 or Xbox 360? If we do I want the Actionaut robot to be much larger and have laser beams. Is that too much to ask? Great job to all who made this game and packaging! The Sega Genesis collection is a great value and gives you numerous MD games including Phantasy Star 2, 3 and 4, Sonic 1 and 2, Shinobi III, Shadow Dancer, Ristar, Kid Chameleon, Decap Attack and the Golden Axe trilogy, and much more. Is this as good as Silpheed on the Sega CD or the PC? Do you like space shooter shmups? Is this one of the best shoot 'em ups ever made? How does it compare to Radiant Silvergun or Wind Squid? The proper name of the game is PINBALL HALL OF FAME: THE WILLIAMS COLLECTION. Do you like pinball? F Yeah! And this game does a great job of bringing the retro classic old school arcade game home to your gameroom. The gameplay is solid, the graphics are nice and the footage from the review shows all of that. Enjoy several Williams brand pinball classics like Gorgar, Space Shuttle, Firepower, Pinbot, Funhouse, Taxi, Whirlwind and Black Knight. (but no Bride of Pinbot!??) Mutiball, multi-ball! Shoot the extra ball, up the ramp, don't mess up, ahhhhhhh!!!! Pinball is awesome and it needs to come back into style. This game is also available on the Wii and PSP.
