Improv #6 "Faux Jazz" - 244 sec
And now for something completely different. As much I've always enjoyed jazz, I never got around to learning any. Besides plowing through books and tutorials about jazz theory, tritone blues, boogie woogie basses, and the various scale degrees and their functions (dorian, phrygian, mixolydian, etc)... I just never got a taste. After re-watching The Legend of 1900 (an AMAZING MOVIE, btw), I sat down and played a bit. Here's the collection of mashed chords and notes, endearingly entitled "Faux Jazz." I'll let you figure out the "faux" part... I recorded this about a month ago - again, no video. I only had a microphone on me, and I'm still trying to find a video camera for recording. Piano doodle thing (cc) imoenk on DA: http://imoenk.deviantart.com/art/Piano-76359057 NO sheet music! Improv #5 "Thunderstorm" - 290 sec
I'm still alive! [t'was a triumph, great success...] I recorded this about a month ago - sorry, no video. I only had a microphone on me, and I'm still trying to find a video camera for recording. This improv turned out a bit more harmonious than I expected, so here you are. It's primarily an experiment; there are "mistakes," if you see misplaced harmonies and very intentional accidentals as such. When I improvise, I tend to imagine a scene, like for a film, then fit the music to the mood of the scene. Here I was imagining a storm, so hence the title. No sheet music! Ozzie's Quest OST [own composition] - 876 sec
My first run at composing. This was done for a friend and his project for a game design class. I really wanted a SNES feel to it; nothing too advanced (despite remixing the published version with Reason to give it a better feel). It was a really fun project and I hope I can compose more game music in the future. Again, this is my first try at composing, so any critique is encouraged. Track list: 1. Title Theme 2. Windy Peaks 3. Woodlands 4. Downtown Barricade 5. Frostbite 6. Illusion 7. Ending / Credits Download mp3 / midi here: http://ozzie.sebastianwolff.info My deepest thanks to Claude Debussy who helped me compose Frostbite. I'm really not a fan of his work, but his piece "The Snow is Dancing" (No. 4 from Children's Corner) helped set the desolate and completely surreal feel of it. If you're wondering if you've heard Downtown Barricade before... I used a lot of inspiration from the soundtrack from Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I couldn't for the life of me track down the composer, so, if you composed the music for this game and are reading this, let me know :D EDIT: Tomohito Nishiura is the amazing composer for Professor Layton (and other games)! Regarding all other songs, I got most of my inspiration from Yoko Shimomura, Nobuo Uematsu, Koji Kondo, and from Pixel's game Cave Story. I am still trying to find my own style, with regards to composing and playing, but thanks to these awesome people who inspire me, I can hopefully revise my techniques and become better. Everything © Sebastian Wolff. Feel free to use my work, but give credit where credit is due, and let me know about if and when you use it. Enjoy, Sebastian http://sebastianwolff.info

Fire and Ice [Final Cut] - 954 sec
This is the final cut of our senior year film project "Fire and Ice" at Montgomery High School. Besides producing, editing, videographing/filming and working partially on the sound design, I composed the complete score - which is available on my website: http://music.sebastianwolff.info/#fireandice . YouTube quality is 320x240 pixels with mono sound. We filmed in widescreen at DVD quality and muxed the audio to 5.1 surround-sound. A lot of the intended cinematic experience is lost due to this, and is only available on DVD. If you would like to buy a copy: yes! They are on sale for $10. Send me a note here on youtube or an email: germanseabass@gmail.com Our crew spent over $1000 making this film, and we have a bit of a deficit in our wallets to fill. If you want to see more great films, please donate or buy our film! Thanks! Comments / feedback / suggestions are welcome as usual. Oh, and everything you see and hear? Improv #4 "Quest for the Truth" - 326 sec
Another improvisation, after listening endlessly to Final Fantasy songs. This one has slightly less oomph than the last one, but I still like it since it's cleaner. I finally decided to title my improvisations, starting with this one. "Quest for the Truth" somehow fit. I have no idea how to explain, it just fit. After listening to the recording, I noticed that I brought back the melody from previous songs and the motif from Fire and Ice (a student film for which I composed the soundtrack). I really like how this one came out. Enjoy, GermanSeabass http://sebastianwolff.info

Cruel Angel's Thesis [Neon Genesis Evangelion] - 116 sec
Cruel Angel's Thesis (残酷な天使のテーゼ) is the title song from one of the most amazing animes. No, it's not overhyped; it really is amazing. Sadly, I don't own this song, nor the series. Credit goes to these people: Cruel Angel's Thesis © Neko Oikawa (lyrics), Hidetoshi Satō (composition) Eva © ADV Films, Manga Entertainment The arrangement is by Piano Squall / Michael Gluck. Tay- I just couldn't resist :D A piano-solo variation / improvisation on "Chocolate Rain" by Tay Zonday. I couldn't think of a more creative title, so meh. Chocolate Rain © Tay Zonday. Stampede [The Lion King] - 123 sec
Happy New Year y'all! I return with a camera and recorded music! This is "Stampede" ("...To Die For" in some releases) from The Lion King, the best Disney movie. (This is a proven fact.) After buying every Lion King sheet music book available, I was disappointed that none had the best and most dramatic song in the whole trilogy of The Lion King. I'm not happy with this version yet, as it is a bit sloppy and rushed. If I get around to actually writing sheet music, I will upload another version. But so far, this is just an arrangement by ear, there IS NO SHEET MUSIC. DO NOT ASK. The Lion King © Walt Disney Studios "Stampede" © Hans Zimmer / Disney Enjoy! Carol of the Bells - 139 sec
A song I recorded over a year ago for a Holiday CD. It's my favorite Christmas song, so I did my own improvisation on the melody and harmonics. It's also known as Christmas Bells, Ukrainian Bell Carol, Kolyadka Dzvonyk, etc... © zilch. Bounty Hunter [Advent Rising] - 147 sec
I've always wanted to play this. Bounty Hunter was written for full orchestra; about 58 instruments and a 60+ member choir. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was about 137 pieces short and had to compress Tallarico's beautiful composition into a piano solo. This is an arrangement by ear. I do not have sheet music, but official arrangements are on sale. Buy them, they are excellent. http://www.sheetmusicplus.com http://www.flmusicservice.com "Bounty Hunter" © Tommy Tallarico Advent Rising © Donald Mustard, Orson Scott Card, Cameron Dayton, GlyphX Games, Majesco GermanSeabass http://sebastianwolff.info

Improv #3 - 352 sec
This is my third (recorded) improv session, since it's been a while since the last one. Once again, I'm not too happy with the outcome; too muddy in many regards, slurred chords, odd harmonics, but generally decent and good enough for youtube. I listened to Tim Burton and his wondrous music before (Nightmare Before Christmas), so that perhaps gave me some inspiration towards abstract notes and chords. © Me! Seijaku no Toki [Utawarerumono] - 84 sec
Hey; I managed to make my camera work! This is probably one of my all-time favorite pieces. If you have not seen the anime, please do so now; you have missed out on life until you've watched it. It is licensed in the US, so you should be able to get your hands on it. "Seijaku no Toki" means "Time of Silence" unless I am mistaken. T'was composed by the wonderful Anze Hijiri who composed about half of the soundtrack for Utawarerumono alongside Nakamura Miyu. I learned this piece by ear; there is no sheet music for it. Kyle Landry's "Red Skies" - 267 sec
My camera is still broken! Hence, sound only. Ranking currently as number two in a list of pieces composed by Kyle (topped only by "Lonely"), this piece is still wonderful and teaches you a few fine things about composition too! This is an improvisation on the melody and feel of the original recording. In my opinion, the *feel* of a piece is more important than the notes. It's not perfect, neither in regards to correct notes, nor in how closely it matches the original composition. I do not have sheet music.
