Chicago (the band)- Stone of Sisyphus (2008) - 253 sec
Chicago XXXII: 'Stone of Sisyphus' on Rhino Records June 17, 2008 CHICAGO PUSHES SISYPHUS OVER THE TOP 'Lost' Chicago Studio Album Finally To See Release June 17 from Rhino Records LOS ANGELES - In his book, The Greatest Music Never Sold, author Dan Leroy writes about the Stone Of Sisyphus, the great 'lost' Chicago album. Recorded in 1993 and produced by Peter Wolf, Sisyphus became a cult record immediately after Warner Bros. refused to release it because it wasn't the Chicago record that was expected. Knowing what they had created and not willing to compromise, the band left Warner Bros. and took the album with them. Now, 15 years later, on June 17, this 11-song album with four bonus tracks will finally be available from Rhino Records at all physical and digital outlets, including www.rhino.com, for a suggested list price of $18.98 for CD and $9.99 for download. Powered by Chicago's celebrated horn section, the tracks on SISYPHUS have bite, power and swing, and the 'fire in the belly' that one associates usually with debut albums. The songs touch on a wide range of styles and moods including the energetic horn-driven title track, "Stone Of Sisyphus," the cool funk groove of "Mah-Jong," the anti-corporate rock broadside "Plaid," the touching emotional lyrics of "Pull" and Robert Lamm's rap on "Sleeping In The Middle Of The Bed." "Bigger Than Elvis" features contributions from musicians who worked with "The King" himself, including The Jordinaires and Jerry Scheff (father of Chicago bassist Jason Scheff). "We wrote songs that were more experimental, songs that were more daring in terms of musical direction and chord construction, more than anything," remembers James Pankow, whose innovative horn charts had been an integral part of Chicago's distinctive sound from the start. "We got into really feeling our oats in terms of being the voice of Chicago again. It had been a long time since we had made a record like that." Looking back, the band members wish they had found a way to release Sisyphus sooner, but there is intense pride in having stood up for their creativity integrity - a Chicago trademark. While Sisyphus became an underground classic, widely bootlegged by fans, Chicago continued to defy music business conventions by forming their own record company, and recording hugely successful big band and holiday records before it was the fashion. Chicago (the band)- In the Studio 1994 - 230 sec
This is a rare glimpse into the making of a 'Chicago' album. This is the guys rehearsing their parts for "In the Mood" that would be the most memorable (and performed) song on the 'Night & Day' album that was released in 1995. The footage was shot in Vancouver, B.C. in December 1994. The usual suspects: Robert Lamm James Pankow Lee Loughnane Walt Parazaider Bill Champlin Jason Scheff Tris Imboden You'll notice a guitar player that you might not recognize. His name is Bruce Gaitsch. Bruce is a dear friend of the band and a very talented musician. In fact, he plays nearly 90% of the guitars that you hear on the 'Night & Day' album and the soon-to-be-released 'Stone of Sisyphus'. Just a little trivia... the 'SOS' album was to be released in 1994, but it's taken 14 years to release it! Enjoy!

Chicago (band)- "Mongonucleosis" LIVE 1977 - 309 sec
"Mongonucleosis" is an instrumental piece written by trombone player, Jimmy Pankow. This Latin-tinged tune can be found on the 1974 release, 'Chicago VII'. Interesting to note that this song was written by Chicago's trombone player and is trumpet-heavy. Even more, Jimmy doesn't even PLAY trombone on this song. He plays percussion. This was filmed in Amsterdam in 1977. Enjoy!

Peter Cetera- "One Good Woman"- LIVE (1988) - 251 sec
This was filmed in Japan in September 1988. "One Good Woman" would reach number 4 on the Billboard chart a few weeks later. I've always loved this song. I wish the audio and picture quality were a little bit better. Sorry about that. Enjoy!

Chicago- I'm a Man- Alternate/Unseen Version (1969) - 399 sec
This is NOT what you might think it is. Most everyone has seen the B&W Chicago performance of this song. They actually performed it twice. The version that's all over the place is the "cleaner" more album-like version. This is an outtake. This is more representative of how the band was truly playing it "live", by this time. It's raw and loose. Even a little sloppy at times. I love it! This is an entirely different performance and it's great unseen video of the original band in their earliest days (daze) ;-) The quality is not as great as I would like, but I wanted to get this out there. I've had this thing for at least 12 years or more. Glad I ran across it. This was filmed in Germany in December 1969. Enjoy!

Chicago (band)- Salute to America (2002) - 453 sec
Chicago paid tribute to America in the wake of 9/11. This performance was filmed in Washington, D.C., on the Capitol Lawn, only months after the attacks on US soil. This is a very touching and fitting salute to the land of the free and the home of the brave. Chicago performs two songs. Enjoy!

Peter Cetera (Chicago)- Last Interview, Going Solo (1985) - 378 sec
PLEASE READ this description to fully understand what you are seeing. Chicago (with Cetera) played their last show in May, 1985. The two camps were at odds and doing battle for two months. Peter decided to leave the group in June. This interview was done around the first week of July. Peter's new representation had yet to announce his departure from the group. He did this interview as a MEMBER of Chicago, as scheduled. No one knew that he had quit. He ultimately gives away this secret, as the interviewer is persistent in asking questions about 'Chicago 18', etc. It was about a week later that Peter put out a press release that confirmed his departure. This interview is very awkward. Cetera and Foster KNOW that he is no longer a member of Chicago. The funny part is that they are the ONLY one's who know this. The interviewer has NO idea. Peter wouldn't do another interview until July of 1986. He wanted time off and he got it. This is a classic. Enjoy!

This is actually pretty cool! Lee is discussing the iPod, which was released a few months earlier. It's interesting to see how far we've come along in the last 5 years. The interviewer is a schmuck. He keeps calling him JIMMY! Duh... Enjoy!
